Hayley will be accompanied by Yukiko Ono (violin) and Yamazaki Makoto (piano) during her Japanese 'Treasure' tour. It is called 'Treasure' tour but in her songlist there is no songs from her latest album even though she is expected to sing 'Summer rain' in some of her Japanese concerts. Hi Stephany I might be missing something here (maybe my brain!) but why isn't Hayley promoting her Treasure album in Japan by including songs in the concerts? I would have thought it was a wonderful opportunity. Martin

Hi Martin, This is a very good question. Japanese people have great respect for classical music but they are used to hearing the best. They are therefore VERY demanding. If Hayley wants to reach them with her music, it's in her best interest to choose the songs they already know and love. Strangely enough, they are more comfortable with 'old' songs rather than with new material. 'You raise me up', 'Amazing Grace', 'Prayer', etc. are now very well-known in Japan and they will be delighted if Hayley performs these specific tracks. If they're happy, they will buy all her albums without any consideration of their tracklist. What I'm saying doesn't apply to every Japanese but in general it's how the audience is. Respectful, warm but also very demanding. Give them what they want and they will love you for it. Stephany

Hi Stephany Thanks for the very interesting and informative answer. It just goes to show how different cultures can be between East and West.
I know from talking to other people that Western businessmen have to be very careful and well prepared when planing to sell to the East, particularly in Japan and China. I know someone who has recently been to China to "sell" but he said that the last thing you must mention in a business meeting is selling. The business trip is really all about creating relationships.
Best Wishes Martin

Hello Stephany and Martin! I suspect it's the cultural differences between Japan and the rest of the world that stops the locals joining international forums. It seems strange that Hayley is so popular there and yet we don't have any Japanese members. Best Wishes, Richard

Hi Richard, Martin and everyone else! I suspect it's the cultural differences between Japan and the rest of the world that stops the locals joining international forums. Good point. I don't believe the language is a barrier because English is not the mother tongue of many of us here on the forum and that doesn't prevent us to register and post. Stephany

Hi again everyone, I was starting to feel desperate about not finding real new info on Hayley's tour in Japan. I knew there would be something eventually. Here are four pictures of Hayley's concerts in Fukuoka and Nagoya. Phew! source: HEREThe audience was delighted by Hayley's performance. "You Raise me up" was particularly well-received according to the blogger. He also says that he was struck by how rich Hayley's voice has become in two years (last time she toured Japan). Is that another new dress in the Nagoya concert picture? Hi Grant, Actually, I don't think it's a dress. I'd rather say it's what she wore at Stuart's school: Lots of love, Stephany xx

Well spotted Stephany, but I didn't mean that picture I meant the blue dress in the picture below it Not that I'm one to usually notice clothes, but isn't that the dress worn in the first part of the Hurtwood Park Polo Club show in August? I remember because that was my first Hayley concert. You posted some pictures here Grant hwi.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Concert&action=display&thread=1181202219&page=4Cheers, James

Hi Stephany and James Huh!! Ganging up on me now are you? You could be right I guess, having had a closer look. Skirt and top certainly look to be different colours. Maybe it was the lighting making it look pale blue, and the apparently white trim on the hem that threw me. OK! I surrender! Best wishes Grant
