One of the world's top vocal artists is coming to Carmarthenshire.Hayley Westenra will perform at the biennial midsummer concert at Aberglasney Gardens in the Tywi Valley.

The concert, which will be held on Friday, June 27, will take place in the Ancient Cloister Gardens.

This follows the highly successful inaugural concert last year which featured Katherine Jenkins. Aberglasney commercial manager Jacqui Mitchell said: "We are delighted and very excited that Hayley has accepted our invitation to perform here - it's a fantastic coup for us in particular but also for the whole area.

"It follows our ambitions to attract top-quality names to a top-quality venue."

New Zealander Hayley has sung for presidents, queens and prime ministers, become a committed ambassador for Unicef, and has sold more than three million records worldwide - all by the age of 19.

Hayley's debut international album, entitled Pure, went straight in at number eight in the UK pop album charts and number one in the classical charts, making her the fastest-selling debut classical artist of all time.

The album turned gold in the UK in one week and has since hit double platinum.

Also appearing at the centre will be Fiona Pears, a violinist from New Zealand.

Make it a day.. bring your wives, bring your girlfriends (although not if you're bringing the wife - they get a bit upset about that ), bring your sheep..

Could sheep be the reason for the close affinity with Cardiff and Wales? After all New Zealand and Wales both have far more sheep than people!

On a more on-topic note, tickets go on sale the day of the Dublin concert - could be a lot of people in the queue planning their next concert. The picture of the venue gives me the impression of an intimate Roman theatre. Anyone been there before?

Hi James - below is a picture of the Cloister Garden where the concert is supposed to take place. I also added another picture of Katherine Jenkins when she came to Aberglasney Gardens. I assume that they will raise a stage like this one for Hayley. Hope it helps!

I think I may be interested in coming to this one. I'm saying this before I've looked at the map to see if it will need an overnight stay.

It could be a good one to bring someone with me I guess, a good day out if the weathers good

Ive just had a look where the venue is and I think it will mean an overnight stay. Its not actually that much further than my lone trip to Porthcawl, for which I didn't stay over - but as this is more in the middle of nowhere, the driving time will be much longer. I'm going to have a look to see if I can find somewhere good to stay so that I'm ready to book by the 4th

I would truly enjoy meeting all of you and also having the cherished opportunity of seeing Hayley again, but my "spirit" is getting quite thrifty in its maturity (no, not old age.......MATURITY!!). Perhaps Hayley should do a concert here in New Jersey and perhaps everyone could come visit the states? You would all be welcome to stay in my tent while you're visiting. Hayley also.
