Thanks Richard, it's great to hear that she'll be spending her summer in the UK. Hopefully it will give her inspiration and bright ideas for her next album I believe it's the first time she ever goes to the Isle of Man, right?

Andrew Cowin, a professional photographer, will be at Hayley's Villa Marina concert on August 14, 2007. His photos will probably be online on his website. Best wishes, Stephany

Hayley Westenra creates classical convert
CLASSICAL TALENT: Hayley Westenra
By ANGELA KILLEY I HAVE been participating in a cultural exchange this year. In May I took my mother to see The Who at the Peel Bay Festival.
She came away with a new found love for the legendary band and Back Door Slam has gained a new supporter.
This week it was her choice and we went to see An Evening with Hayley Westenra and the National Symphony Orchestra.
I was not thrilled at the prospect of an evening of classical music.
I'm much more familiar with the dulcet tones of rock music. The last concert I went to was Metallica - I never imagined I'd follow it with an evening of classical music or that, more surprisingly, I would really enjoy it!
I am now a classical convert and proud of it.
Hayley's special guest for the evening was Scottish tenor Nicky Spence.
He opened with Silent Welcome before going into a mini stand-up routine between each song. Each song was filled with personality and he conveyed the full meaning of each, no matter what language he was singing in.
The audience response left me with no doubt that he would be asked to return again.
When Hayley came out she greeted the audience to 'fastyr mie' before opening with Pokarekare Ana, a song from her native New Zealand and followed with Caccini's Ave Maria.
Both were beautifully sung and surprising moving which started the trend for the rest of her performance. Every song that followed, including her duet with Nicky, was delivered perfectly and managed to move even the hardest rock fan.
Called back for an encore she surprised Nicky by asking him to join her for Amazing Grace, which was a perfect ending. However the crowd wanted more and called her back but she had to apologise as she had no further songs prepared.
We forgave her and let her go but, as I heard one gentleman say as we exited the Villa: 'Well, she'll just have to back and do it all again then.'www.iomtoday.co.im/news?articleid=3111535Any HWI members there? PS. I had forgotten that the Isle of Man was one of the Celtic Nations with it's own language, Manx. I wonder if Hayley offered any words. Stephany, do you speak it? PPS. I missed it. "Fastyr mie" is "Good Evening" in Manx.

Thanks for the great article, Drew. It's fantastic to hear that Hayley is very successful in converting people to her music. Stephany

Hello Meldy! There may have been some HWI members there, but they haven't got round to joining us yet, if you see what I mean! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifIf Hayley plays a concert on the Isle of Dogs, we might get some canine members! I'm barking this morning! Richard

Thank You everyone for the glimpse of light on the Isle of Man Concert. A pretty good glimpse I might add Amazing Grace as a duet? Sounds very good to me....it is a hymn. In case anyone is wondering, Nicky Spence was photographed with Hayley at her 19th Birthday. I'll try to find it. Found it...good work Stephany. Its worth reposting these 2 shots as they're very prophetic of Hayley's activities now. Click below for Stephanie's post : worth seeing the comments on the pics there. Mylene Klass has also worked with Hayley. hwi.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Celebration&action=display&thread=1144309939&page=3#1181663947Graeme
