Hi Martin!

Hayley sang 14 songs at Stoke. I also believe I read somewhere that she also sang 14 songs in her set on the Il Divo tour.

I don't think I've heard of her singing more.

Hayley's show raises £11,000 for African children

ALSAGER teenager Daniel Keen has raised almost £11,000 for African children by enlisting the support of singer Hayley Westenra.

The 19-year-old organised a concert featuring Hayley, a soprano from New Zealand, at the Victoria Hall in Hanley.

Hayley's first album, Pure, reached number one in the UK classical charts, and has sold more than two million copies worldwide.

The near sell-out concert raised £10,947 to buy bicycles for children in Ghana to help them travel to school and for everyday activities.

Daniel is a fan of Hayley, and sought her help after hearing about her work for UNICEF.

"I never thought she would agree to come and perform for us, and when she did I was over the moon," said Daniel.

"I always wanted the concert to be held at the Victoria Hall to try and show people what kind of stars we can attract to the city.

"I wanted to publicise the city to the outside world, while at the same time raising money with Hayley for UNICEF."

Daniel and Hayley met up again at her concert at Gawsworth Hall, where he presented her with a cheque representing the concert proceeds.

"Hayley was overwhelmed by the amount we had managed to make, and it will really make a difference to children's lives in Ghana," said Daniel.

He thanked Knight and Sons solicitors, Natwest Bank and the Mike and Sandra Moors Vision Trust for their financial support.

Daniel is studying for a classical music degree at Leeds College of Music.

A teenager asked classical chart sensation Hayley Westenra to perform a charity concert in Hanley which raised £10,947 to help African children.

Daniel Keen, aged 19, from Alsager, organised the concert at the Victoria Hall in June to raise cash to buy bikes for children in Ghana.

Yes indeed Stephany, we certainly are impressed... possibly even more impressed, I think, than we are with France's amazing victory over the All Blacks a few hours ago.... but wow!

Danny, if you see this, check out the gallery of Grant's excellent after-the-show photos here on the HWI website... you are in it - and so you should be! Don't worry by the way, it's a very good photo of you and Hayley.

Just one more thing and I know it's a long shot... but if anyone has any photos taken of Hayley's actual performance, please let us know - it would be nice if we could add add one or two of these to the Gallery for this event.

Even i dont have any pics of Hayleys actual performance from this event. The venue staff were ridiculously strict on photo taking, especially when wed agreed it was ok without flash.

Hi Everyone,

Very interesting to know that Hayley has been at the Victoria Hall in Stoke-on-Trent.

I have had a quick browse of the thread, I wish I had more time right now, I will do though when I get chance. It seems that you all had a fantastic time and it seems Hayley enjoyed it too.

All for an excellent cause. Well done Danny for arranging it all.

I'm a little gutted that I hadn't discovered Hayley sooner, as I would have loved to have been there and seen her perform in my home town. Hopefully she will come back one day.

I have just read through this thread............ Great report and photos Grant ..... it looks a good venue for a repeat this October.
One thing I was looking for was a seating plan

I picked up that row C and a few more rows back is good, not A or B, and an end seat in the middle is the target.
Anything more I need to know before the mad rush for tickets is soon upon us

Anything reasonably central will be good. The stage is very high so, barring excessive headgear on the seat in front, a good view is guaranteed. Too far forward and you'll need traction on your neck afterwards!
