I was in the choir balcony - second row. Loved the concert and recognised some of the regulars. Very impressed by Mia Coopers solo too. Did not wait for signing.

Regarding "returns only", I was at the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra last night at NCH, which was advertised as sold out, and there were many empty seats. When we enquired we were told some people just did not show, and others asked if they could sell them on their behalf. Enjoy tonight

I noticed some time ago that RTE had taken down that published programme, but not published a new one.

I hope this has not already been posted somewhere, but I have not seen it. An article in the free in-store July/August edition of HMV Choice. I have not got a scanner so used a photo - sorry about that !

It has been so long since I visited that I am almost embarrassed to show my face here! There is just so much information coming in every day I simply could not keep up with it and gave up. I received a letter from the Concert Hall today giving details of RTEs Signature Series with the RTE Concert Orchestra, and of course immediately noticed Hayley (and Katherine Jenkins). Then I came here to find that, of course, the news has been here for a fortnight already! See you all there!

I just checked the times on these photos and they spread from 22:33 right through to 22:35, you were there for ages, no wonder I have so many photos of you comet Uh oh, and that did NOT include getting my picture taken with Hayley (three times, for insurance)! I was not even aware of being photographed either. We had better keep that between ourselves or I will be lynched the next time I appear after a Hayley concert. Was this Hayley's first public appearance in Ireland? When I was speaking to her she did say she had been over for a couple of days to record the album at Windmill Lane, but I gathered she had not made any public appearance on that occasion. And now I must go to the right place to introduce myself !

Hayley on the edge of her seat.. And why wouldn't she be, she hadn't met ME before ! Yes, that is me ! First of all a sincere thank you all for the very warm welcome, you have made me feel like part of the family. I must admit I felt a bit intimidated when I saw some of the numbers of posts, but I suppose we all have to start at 1. Secondly, apologies for being so slow to respond, I have been galavanting. And lastly my own couple of snaps. In the first, the very sharp eyed amongst you will probably see yourselves. And the extremely sharp-eyed may even spot the phantom YouTube videographer Jackduckworth. And the second was taken by a member of the NCH staff

Hi folks, I'm new to this forum, though not new to Hayley's singing. I love "live" music shows (part of the reason why I am so late to this thread) and especially like events in the Concert Hall, as there is always a sense of occasion. The concert hall is quite small, which has the advantage that you never seem too far away from the stage and performers generally like it. As soon as I saw Hayley on the NCH programme I booked my seat - Row L, slightly right of centre looked good for sound, if not for photos. Normally photography is strictly forbidden in the concert hall so I did not bring my good camera, just a compact which I always carry. I am in the unusual position of having seen the faces and now putting names on them. I really cant add much to what has already been said, only to add that I thought the orchestra was excellent and the lighting was very tastefully handled. I thought Hayley looked very elelgant and feminine and her voice was crystal clear. I was reluctant to use my camera but eventually did during the second encore. I thoroughly enjoyed the concert and was well satisfied as I got up to leave. I was considering hanging about in case there was a chance to meet Hayley, when it was announced that she would be signing in the foyer. Now that, I thought, was very generous of her. I joined the forming queue in third or fourth place and saw those two young children referred to earlier. Hayley signed my programme and CD inserts and when I enquired if she ever visited her MySpace page, she said occasionally but she directed me here. When she could not find the URL on the Odyssey booklet, she wrote it out in full (includiing hyphens !) for me. I remarked that I was surprised that photography was allowed and she asked if I would like a photograph now. (Can a duck swim !) After she had signed my stuff she got up and asked one of the NCH staff if he would take a photo for me, and I must compliment him on the photo - much better than my own. I thanked Hayley and turned to leave, and only then saw the length of the queue behind me ! What a kind and generous, elegant and glamorous, talented young lady. What a privilege to meet her on the first occasion I see her 'live'. ( I can think of one traditional Irish musician whom I have seen on numerous occasions but never yet met, despite my attempts. I still like the music though.) So glad to hear Hayley say she will be back soon. I will be first in the queue, well, after her "regulars" ! One other point, which I dont think has been mentioned already. The concert was being recorded by RTE Radio 1 for future broadcast - presumably on the In Concert series, which would mean it would be archived and available on demand. I only hope that the ringing mobile phones/ pagers, which I heard on three occasions, do not spoil it. How can people be so inconsiderate, after two announcements before the concert began. And finally finally, Hayley was interviewed on The Tubridy Show on Radio 1 the previous Tuesday - probably nothing new to you regulars, but she sounded so relaxed and happy and I could listen to that accent all day. I will post a link later, when I get home. And a couple of snaps. Sorry to be so longwinded !

Just bouncing this as a gentle reminder to everyone that tonight is the first opportunity to hear the broadcast version of this concert. It starts just after the News at 9.00pm. Happy Christmas! ( www.rte.ie/radio1/index.html )

I agree Stephany, that most singers seem to sip water regularly.
And Paddy, I didn't use my camera until the programme was over, unfortunately. I didn't notice Hayley's shoes in the first half, but there were two big monitors at the front which may have obscured my view.
I was at another gig last night at which Dublin's traffic was blamed for the late start. Maybe we have a slight problem!
One point which has not been mentioned, but will be no surprise, was that Hayley received a standing ovation. It was only out of the corner of my eye that I noticed, apart from the front few rows, the whole concert hall, balcony, side balconies and choir balcony were on their feet. I can see round corners with these glasses !

What a great evening it was. I have been checking in and out since to read the excellent reports and view the super pictures, but have not had a chance to sit down and give my own recollections. I had been looking forward to this concert since George first drew it to our attention. At the June concert I was not even aware of HWI, so having been directed here by Hayley herself, I was looking forward to the concert of course, but also to meeting some members of the forum. I also felt it seemed wrong somehow that I had been to a concert and met Hayley before joining HWI, while Stephany, despite being a member for less than a year and with so many posts, had not yet met Hayley. I was glad to see that, in the meantime, Stephany had met Hayley, and only sorry that she could not also come to Dublin. I hope to meet you at the next Dublin concert Stephany, and see if you can understand my English! I arrived at the NCH after work (my first mistake), collected my ticket and programme, and looked for familiar faces in the Terrace Café and the John Field Room, before finding them in the foyer. Lovely to meet Caitlin, George, Geralynn, Joyce, Karsten, Paddy and Paul. I was sorry I did not have more time to speak to all of you. I didn't meet Eugene, but saw him if that counts. He seemed to be very busy, and well done too. My seat was Row C, the second row - how very Irish! There was a Row A, but the stage was over the seats. I never noticed this before and don't know whether it is a permanent arrangement, or only when the orchestra is on stage. Caitlin was on the end of my row and I had a quick word before taking my seat. And Stephany (#200) I was sitting next to Larry from Illinois, a really nice gentleman. He told me he had seen Hayley in Croydon and thought she was unwell, as she was sipping water at every opportunity. After two warnings to switch off mobile phones, Larry's phone went off, but at least it was before the concert, and his ringtone was Hayley! He said it was his broker and he was not going to let him spoil the concert!! Being so close to the stage, I saw things which I would not otherwise have noticed, such as Hayley's lovely sparkling necklace in the first half, which Stephany remarked on. I also liked Paul's sparkly black tie, might get one of those for Christmas. And Caitlin (#139) what David Brophy said to amuse the audience, after Hayley left the stage late in the second half, was that he hoped Hayley had not left early to be home for Christmas. I could not see the backing choir, and actually enquired if they were using a backing track. And there was some beautiful guitar playing in the first half, and I could not even see the guitar. The concert was most enjoyable and has already been well covered, particularly by Caitlin. After the Interval, Larry told me he had spoken to the Manager and Hayley would be coming out to sign afterwards. I am so impressed at the effort put in by so many of her fans to get to this concert, and the depth of their knowledge of all things Hayley related. I felt privileged to be with HWI members to see Eugene presenting Hayley with this massive cheque, about which I knew absolutely nothing beforehand. I was surprised to see The Music Box (shop) selling the RTE Guide, until I realised it included a free Christmas CD featuring the RTE Concert Orchestra conducted by David Brophy, and Paul Byrom, together with RTE Cór na Nóg (young peoples choir). It has 16 tracks, including In Dulce Jubilo. I loved to hear Joyce's story about the clogs. A Polish work colleague told me they also have a similar tradition. Thank you Karsten for your excellent photographs. I am fascinated as to how your camera operates without a SLR-like shutter click. And it is funny that you should mention our Dublin traffic. Last night I went to see Beth Nielsen Chapman and she too remarked on our traffic. A lady friend once told me I should always get a picture of a lady's shoes so here you go - Hayleys sparkly shoes (and the elegant Caitlins) Oh, and would you turn off the lights on your way out! I look forward to seeing Hayley again next year, and hope Stephany can make it too.
