I think Let Me Lie could fit in with Arbor Day. "Let me breathe the forest air, it's the life force that we all share..." Santa Lucia certainly has nothing to do with Columbus, but it's about a ship and sailing, and Columbus sailed on a ship to get to this side of the world. And I don't think a daughter's pining away after a man and threatening to throw herself into the sea over it is a very good Father's Day gift. So I think Steve's tongue was in his cheek too. But several songs on Treasure and Odyssey would fit for St. Patrick's day, even if they're not technically Irish. And then there's Majesty for Easter. Shenandoah for the 4th of July (remember?)

Hi Larry,
Of course, I'm tongue in cheek too.
Is your memorial day hald on 11th November by any chance, since that would be the same as our Remembrance Day. Remembrance Sunday is the Sunday nearest to that date, and the Festival of Remembrance, in which Hayley has taken part, on the preceding Saturday.
GuyFawkes was a member of a group od Catholics who planned to assasinate King James I of England by exploding gunpowder underneath the Houses of Parliament in London. The plot was discovered and the perpetrators tortured and executed. Guy Fawkes Night is November 5th, and is celebrated by lighting bonfires on which "Guys", effigies of Mr Fawkes are burned (although was actually hanged). When I was young, we used to make Guys out of sacking and old clothes, and psh then around in old prams or pushchairs asking people for "a penny for the Guy" to raise money to buy fireworks which would be used as part of the celebration.
These days, do mainly to heath and safety considerations, the tradition seems less prevalent than it was, although we hade a good one last year in Leicester at least when Diwali and Guy Fawkes Night coincided. I think these days the kids seem to prefer to celbrate Halloween instead at that time of year. Pity in my opinion.
Gahh. Off topic again!!!

Martin, we have Memorial Day in May (usually the last weekend of May), and Veteran's Day is in November around the same time as Remembrance Day in the UK. Veteran's day is usually observed on a Friday, while Memorial is usually observed on a Monday. I only get holiday pay on Memorial day, though. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif
