Where to start? The "Celtic Woman2: A New Journey" is a magnificent and touching performance which is glorious for casual and dedicated fans alike. The show is almost tailor-made to create new fans. I consider this to be the best recorded concert performance that I have ever seen.
The biggest difference compared to the first Celtic Woman video, superficially, is the addition of the wonderfully talented Hayley. But even beyond the personnel addition, the major change is that the ladies are animated. They dance, twirl, and in the case of Mairead the violinist, spin. They sing as beautifully as they did for the original concert, perhaps even better, and show even more of a human side than ever.
Among the fantastic combined performances featuring all of the soloists are "The Sky and the Dawn and the Sun", "Beyond the Sea", "Spanish Lady", and "Mo Ghile Mear". Excellent solo performances include Lisa's "Caledonia", Orlagh's "Newgrange" and "Carrickfergus", Mairead's "Granuaile's Dance", and Hayley's "Scarborough Fair" and "Laschia Ch'io Painga".
Several songs stand out, which is hard to do in a performance of this magnitude. "Over the Rainbow" is a rendering by Hayley, Chloe, Meav, and Orlagh. This song, originally in the "Wizard of Oz", is beautifully harmonized and FAR outstrips the original. Another spectacular song is "The Last Rose of Summer" with Meav and Hayley singing a willowy duet. Perhaps most incredibly, in "Shendendoah/The Pacific Slope", Mairead plays her violin while she dances and jumps in a manner that seems impossible if you hadn't seen it with your own eyes. Chloe only has one solo performance, "The Prayer", but she makes it count with her incredibly expressive voice in a way that only Chloe Agnew can.
When this DVD comes on sale in the shops, get it. Trust me on this. You will NOT be disappointed in the least.

Thanks for your reply to my review. I do have Hayley's DVD and I love it. In fact, no matter how wonderful I consider the Slane concert, Hayley's rendition of "May It Be" is the best single song that I have ever seen performed by anyone in a concert.

Mark, You are quite welcome  I love Celtic Woman, and I love Hayley, so I get the best of both worlds. Hayley was involved in 8 songs with this special performance - a fairly considerable involvement. And the songs she did were breathtaking. -Scott |

I cannot say anything that would add to what everyone else has said about the Concert. I know it was for PBS, but I just wish there were not so many interruptions.
Since I live on a small Island in Lake Michigan (USA) we have problems getting strong satellite signals especially when the weather was bad as it was last night. I think I only saw about half the show. I will also by the DVD when it comes out.
The half I did see was beautiful with wonderful music and great talent.

What is the link at Amazon for "A new Journey" ? I have trawled through my usual DVD sites e.g. Play.com and Sendit without success. I am surprised that Sendit does not list it as a future release as they are based in Ireland.
Enterprises.dvd does list a Region 1 version with a full song listing. Manhatten Records UPC:MANH75106DVD. Release date 30/1/07 at £12.99 including p&p.

A word of caution for anyone outside the US and Canada who orders this DVD: check that the DVD is Region 0 (Worldwide) or has no region encoding at all. It is at present listed as "Region Unknown" which may or may not indicate no region encoding - Amazon.com should be able to answer that question if you ask them.
If it's been encoded for North America, you may have to hack your DVD player to play it (If you can). I'm waiting a while to see if they release a PAL version for Europe.

Thanks for the info. Music DVD's are not a big seller, why I do not know. Celtic Woman appears to be USA orientated, why their record label is "Manhatten". I may be pessimisitic but will "A New Journey", ever be released on PAL/Region 1 DVD?
Amazon's cost is not transparent, it sounds a bargain with the current rate of exchange between $ & £, but will there be State Taxes/VAT etc to pay? I will get my copy from Enterprisesdvd.com, at least I know what I have to pay. I have traded with them for many years and have never had a problem .I was a very early adopter of DVD, having a large Laserdisc collection and seeing "The writing on the wall". When I first ordered DVD's, PAL/Region 1 discs were few and far between so I had to have a multi-region machine, it also plays my Laserdisc's!
