I'm currently listening to the 'Titanic' soundtrack. Lately I've been on a soundtrack and movie composer kick. With my favorites being Hans Zimmer (Gladiator), Mark Isham, Thomas Newman, and James Horner.

I think the Hannibal soundtrack is great, Caite, if you haven't heard it before, it's also by Hans Zimmer.

Caite, if you like Hans Zimmer, look for the soundtrack from the movie Crimson Tide. To really enjoy it, you'll need a hi fi with pretty good head room to handle the incredible dynamic range in this recording. Also good bass response is needed. Still, if you don't have that, you 'll like this soundtrack. Best played at night when you're in the mood for it. It's very dark and moody music. Still, it's great. You have to hear it to understand what I'm trying to say, because I'm not saying it very well. Mark D.

Hi all, Caite, Hans Zimmer is my favourite composer of all time. Seriously, this guy is too good. Have you heard 'The Last Samurai' soundtrack? Or 'King Arthur's? Just so you know, my playlist is full of Hayley and Hans. Marianne, glad you like James Morrison!! I like some of his songs too. Mark D, thanks for the suggestion. I will take a look at Crimson Tide shortly! Stephany

I've listened to John Williams a lot though, he's pretty popular, but my favorite is "Across the stars" from the Star Wars soundtrack. James Newton Howard is amazing, I really liked his soundtrack from "The Village" especially since Hilary Hahn (one of my favorite violinists) performed excellent solos. I know he will be composing for "The Dark Knight" (June 2008) alongside Hans Zimmer, too. I'm listening to Norah Jones - Those Sweet Words

TODAY,after reading an article in the newspaper about Dutch bandoneon player Karel Kraayenhof, i'm listening to a wonderfull cd of him.Guardians of the Clouds, by composer Ennio Morricone. This sounds a little bit Irish, with ulan pipes. The song Gabriel's oboe, from The mission, i recognized as Nella Fantasia,is the one i love on this album. Most of the other album sounds South American Tango music.Karel Kraayenhof became very famous, because he was part of the Royal Marriage in the Netherlands,(2-2,2002)of Willem Alexander and Maxima. While he was playing Adios Nonino(Astor Piazolla),Princess Maxima's tears were shown to the world.Since that time he became a superstar in Argentina, homecountry of princess Maxima.Greetz JOYCE.

Fredric Chopin - Etude in E Op. 10 I've been listening to this piece lately, it's one of my favorite piano pieces. I actually listened to it in a soap opera hehe, I think it was 1998 or 1999, not sure but this piece was the couple's "song" and the woman would play it on the piano all the time. I remember there was one scene where she was very frustrated and confused, she went to play the piano and played Etude in E. She began crying while playing but she had a faint smile, now everytime I hear this piece I think it's "bittersweet" because the piece feels like a happy romantic piece yet there is some subtle sadness lurking underneath....
