I'd usually answer that it's everybody's right to consistently vote down as it is up, so I don't mind it when this happens (although I think it's a bit mean spirited), it's just in this instance this somebody was using thirty accounts to do so, which is why I took action.

Hi Nicola,
Indeed, that sort of spoiling tactic is reprehensible. Do you allow those votes to stand? It would be fairer if all those votes from people who are cheating could be removed.
It might be hard to weed out though, I suspect it can't always be detected, although I suppose you can spot lots of votes through different users from the same IP address. But removing all the votes would probably be too much tedious work.
BTW, today was the first day this week when my 9am reading showed that Hayley had closed the gap on Rhydian. Only by 10 votes, but it is a start. Keep voting folks.

The reason it's difficult for me to remove these accounts is because I don't actually have access to IP addresses. Only if people come on my forum can I see the IP addresses. Adam is working on this flaw, it would be so much easier to control if I could just see them. At the moment I'm using educational guesses (accounts that registered at the same time and log in 30-60 seconds within each other, with silly or patterned account names).
As such, I have no way of knowing what votes were cast by this person and when so there's no way I can remove the ratings they made fairly.

Hi Nicola,
Thanks for the explanation. Then there are people who have access to more than one IP address as I do, but I only have one account of course.
We are beginning to turn the corner for Hayley I believe. 9am counts this week showed Rhydian's lead as follows
Monday 445 Tuesday 465 (+20) Wednesday 471 (+6) Thursday 461 (-10) Friday 442 (- 19)
Keep it up everyone!

Hi Nicola,
Someone, perhaps several accounts, are still voting Hayley down. Down to 4.92 now. Is it still going on?

I don't think so, Martin. I've looked at everyone who has logged in over the past 24 hours, and I recognise all the names as fans and artists I know. Remember that it's likely that individuals may vote Hayley down too. Whether with tactics in mind or they simply don't like her.

Yes, I would guess a vote is a vote, even if it is a vote down. But I have my suspicions that it is Rhydian's lot that are doing it, since Hayley isn't the only one being voted down by the look of it.. That pains me, I think he is a fine singer and his fans don't need to do that to Hayley. Especally as they are going to be performing together again this Christmas.

Rhydian fans know full well that a vote is worth more than a rating. It's not them that are doing it, and it's not worth pointing the finger at any group of people. :/

Hi Nicola,
Sorry, I hope they will accept my apology. Someone is doing it though to several artists, not just Hayley. Rhydian doesn't seem to be suffering from it.

Just an announcement from my website:
Just a three month advanced warning, but all the user ratings will be reset in December. All the awards that the artists have one will be put up in a Hall of Fame, which will always stay there to commend the efforts from fans. SO. If you want your favourite artists to have a certain award, now is the time to start working towards it.
This also means that all artists on the site will have a fair go a the charts in 2011, as it will start from scratch. About 40 artists have been added since the charts were implemented, and those artists will no longer be at a disadvantage to all the other artists that has featured on this site from the beginning.
I will try to add as many artists as I can before this reset takes place.

We have had someone create nearly 200 accounts (manually, all with e-mail address - it took them 3 hours) to vote for an artist excessively. We're installing a program to IP ban the person.
All the votes they have added have been removed from that artists' total. Regardless of the cheater, the artist has had such a boom of support in America, they are likely to catch up with Rhydian and Hayley before Christmas. They've had nearly 2000 (authentic) votes in a week. I say this as I think her insane climb would probably look suspicious to you; but since the voting campaign is coming from a Facebook page with over 25,000 "likes", the extreme increase is well accounted for. We are ever on the look out for fake accounts, and we delete the votes from these fake accounts.

Hi Nicola Thanks for the warning! I wish the people who do this kind of thing would realise that they are not doing their favoured artist any favours at all - just the opposite in many cases! Whilst I appreciate the ability to vote for my favourite artists, and do so regularly, I can't help but wonder if it would be better just to allow "a vote" - one positive vote - and do away with the star system altogether. You would still get the occassional idiots who try to spoil things or cheat but surely that would be much easier for you to police? Best wishes Grant

Hello Grant,
Forgive me, but I have been talking about this so much over the past 24 hours with so many people messaging and talking about it with me (Jackie fans have overreacted) that I am going to have to give you a copy and paste job. Somebody else asked what you asked, and this was my answer:

Hi Nicola Don't know whether I'm misunderstanding you or you me i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif but I was only advocating the removal of the star system not the right to vote for more than one artist as I fully agree that every one has the right to be in the top 10 if fans can put them there! Anyway, I think you're doing a great job with your site and wasn't in any way criticising what you do Lots of Love Grant
