Now, here are the photos: Dark... black and white, down-turned eyes... no smile... Brings to mind the lyrics from WWEMH: "life is a vision of grey and of white, with no glimpse of springtime in sight..." ...and Light... bright, colored, with an up-turned chin and slight smile... hopefulness... Well, here are the other 2 photo shoot photos. They're not all in black and white after all! I still wonder about the darkness and light theory I had. The new photo isn't sad, but not extremely happy, either, though there is a slight smile. Something sort of in between. A very mature look, showing that this new album has life experience behind it. Absolutely none of the other albums showcased that, though of course, her last 2 were heavily-themed, and did not contain any of her very own songs, even if she did write lyrics to some. Another thought I had was.... "here I am, this is the new me", or "I'm back"

Hmm. No news is, once again, no news. Might we assume that the studio work is finished, at least for the time being?
Perhaps they've gone on a short hol before a birthday announcement regarding the new album? Or perhaps even a return to LA? Winter is a-coming in NZ. I am thinking that the orchestral work is commencing, now that the vocals and drums have been recorded.

But if she’s doing countryish music (well at least one song), and has no label, is an orchestra likely, or possible?

I am thinking that the orchestral work is commencing, now that the vocals and drums have been recorded. But if she’s doing countryish music (well at least one song), and has no label, is an orchestra likely, or possible? Many independent artists have orchestral backing on their albums (City of Prague Philharmonic seems to be a recurring favourite) so the lack of a label is no bar. As for the style of music - who knows? But country music can still have an orchestra and I can't imagine Hayley wanting less than the best.

I guess the story Chris posted during the recording made me a little nervous. Also, I’m not going to lie, what little could be heard in that other story where Hayley was dancing didn’t sound incredible. I’m kind of afraid the nasalliness is making a return when she’s capable of so much better. I’m also not keen on a potential switch to country music. Jolene, fine, but... how about WWEMH? 😕 Even Greener Lands isn’t country. And while her life seems happier now, I don’t think she should toss out those sad songs, because they’re amazing. I guess just have this secret fear that after all this torture and waiting, it won’t be quite what we’ve been waiting for. I realize that the whole album might not really be country after all, but it’s still a concern I have at the moment. I guess the photos don’t scream country.

I bet that’s Chris’ knee, the black towards the bottom middle of the photo (the phone seems far back enough that it would seem someone tall is taking it).

I was thinking the same thing!! I assume you mean about the knee, and not my other post. Lol Speaking of Chris, he posted a story entitled Digital Fires. It definitely looked studio related. 🙂

Still in NZ, then.
'Twas quite warm in Auckland yesterday (10th April) at nearly 20 Celsius (~70F), but somewhat windy at 14mph from the north west. All this from a web aftercast. No doubt the blow was more noticeable on the hill.
Not the best weather for a picnic, but acceptable.
A day off to celebrate, then back nosey-grindstone on the album?
Chris' short vid with the gas fired pseudo log burner appears to show more mixing/sampling/fiddling with some music using a PC or Mac application. Presumably getting chilly enough now in the early or later parts of the day to warrant the fire. Does LA's warmer weather beckon yet, I wonder? It would for me!
Perhaps there are other reasons connected with the album for remaining in NZ?

Like the ones I mentioned not too long ago? 😉 On this same page, in fact. Here’s what I said:
Due to the fact she's been in NZ for over 3 months, mostly doing things that involved her new album, I have to wonder if the album is going to be launched there, and a subsequent NZ tour announcement, perhaps. End of quote.
Because as long as it’s been since a tour anywhere in the world (wait, was her last tour in 2012??!! 😱 ), it’s been at least as long or longer since her last tour in New Zealand. [edit: I think there’ve been a few short tours in Taiwan since.] She’s from there, her career started there, the media and citizens will still know her, and I think that’s the only place she could successfully begin her career re-launch. Well, outside of Taiwan, that is, but honestly, she wouldn’t need a re-launch, as her career is still active there. Hey, has anyone else forgotten about her concert there in May? I literally just remembered that just now! Anyway, back to the discussion. Even though I’m sure the UK media will still know her, her career and music style have likely changed enough that Classic Fm may not be the right thing for her anymore. And with or without Decca, she has never had good marketing to speak of, or at least not in a very long time. I suppose there are some other radio stations that would be interested in her still. I know Irish stations would be, at least. 😉 And perhaps certain magazines.
But I think a good re-launch in New Zealand is what would really get things going again. She might need to make some charts there so everyone else will pay attention to her again.

Yes...I meant Chris' knee. I will post Chris' Instagram Story video as a screenshot, as it might by Hayley-related. I have seen similar music software...each row is a different instrument. Looking at his screen, in the long blue boxes, I see the instruments are labeled "nothing sweeter" with three different drums, a piano (purple box) and bass (gray box). I cannot read what is in that yellow and green box. On the left side, the far left gray column, some of the instruments are labeled differently...I see the three drums are called Audio 2, bluebird (acoustic) and unreal (acoustic). Also the measures are there too (the gold boxes). The yellow line tells us the song is in its 16th measure. Most somgs have four beats in a measure. Here is a video of this type of music software... You can see all of the above in a similar way...
