Haha, just updated my post regarding the newest story. 🙂 I wonder if the airbnb Hayley mentioned is the same place/room with the stained glass skylight, guitar and window? Oh, mosquito-repellent anything is just fine with me! I don’t know, but those pics were before the one where she said she was out of the “big city”.

New instagram pic from Hayley, and also 2 new stories! In the first one she says she decided she's never leaving. What island is it? It's obviously not in Mount Eden, or the "big city" she claimed to have left the other day (so, not likely the same place with the windows ). http://www.instagram.com/p/BuSXWCqHxVH Worth saving to your computer, I suspect, so here it is for your convenience. Also, this would be a much better candidate for an album photo. IMO

I think I have an idea as to what island it is. At first, I began to wonder if she simply meant the North Island of NZ, where Auckland is located, but I figured there are smaller islands off of the North Island, just as there off the coast of pretty much any landmass. I did a search, and, due to the fact that I saw the name mentioned in a profile Hayley just started following, I decided on Waiheke Island, which is near Auckland. She started following an account called @wildflowerwaiheke very recently. It says they do botanical styling for weddings and events... hmm. Already? LOL jk maybe she needs flowers for her album photo/video shoot. Oh, and do you all remember Hayley's yoga retreat in Costa Rica last year? Well, I saw today that she started following @devonyoungyoga, and saw that she has a yoga retreat coming up quite soon (in Sayulita, Mexico), and wondered if she was the same lady. And yes, here is Hayley last year, on the right end of the first row (obviously): http://www.instagram.com/p/Bfmx4zSHjIB And again on the left at far end: http://www.instagram.com/p/BffFoioHNDA Is Hayley going to the next yoga retreat?

A new story from Hayley about an hour ago, saying she’s back in the “big smoke”, which I’m assuming is Auckland. 🙂 There was something about a hairbrush and lipstick, as well. Lol

Lol Hi Libby Yes, it is Auckland! It is a nickname for the city. Although it is NZ's largest urban area, I hope the air pollution is not too bad! Here is the Story...

I bet the air is better than LA’s. Lol I actually wondered if that was also a nickname for London due to the fact they used to be very polluted with coal smoke, but I knew she couldn’t have traveled there from NZ that quickly. Wait, did she say “for the day”? Where’s she going next? Christchurch? Back to LA? 🤔

Yes, 'the big smoke' or sometimes just 'the smoke' is a nickname for London, but its use can probably be extended to refer to any large industrialised city.

Yes, I remember "Smoke on Trent", famous for its potteries. But it like London is much less smoky nowadays than it once was. It was eveb worse than where I grew up, in the middle of the brickmaking area south of Peterborough. Someone once wrote of it "there is nowhere in the world where you can stand in one place and see so many chimneys". Most of them are gone now. I'm not sure what industry Auckland has or had.

Being called “The Big Smoke” doesn’t necessarily mean that the city (or town) has, or has had, a heavy industrial reputation. Certainly, I do not thnk that this would apply to Auckland. in fact, the term is often used by those living in small towns and suburbs to describe the nearest big city.

Two new stories a few hours ago! It looks like she’s sitting in someone’s garage listening to music. The second story is really just a continuation of the first one. I tried out sending my own story in reply, of my boombox on my bed playing Sonny. 😊

(See end of my post!) Here are some screen captures of the two videos...

Just logged into Instagram for my near-daily check. I agree with Libby about the garage. Based on the "this is my life now" caption, perhaps she has moved into it? The furnishings look rather Spartan, but there appears to be a well-stocked collection of vinyl ("LPs" or "Albums" to us oldies) and an inexhaustible supply of coffee. Maybe the latter explains the lack of a bed.
Does this rather modest new accommodation indicate a downward re-appraisal of expenditure becasue funds are running low? Although I'm sure Hayley did well financially back in the day, her income must be a lot less than it once was and the "Hayley money well" cannot be bottomless. Hence this apparent economy.
Humour aside, we seem to have been favoured once again with near-daily Instagram posts recently. After all the excitement just after New Year, posting activity tailed off. Now it's resumed we have few pictures but lots of these "stories" which are often just photos played as a video for several seconds. For a while I couldn't understand the rationale. Why not just post a photo? Then it clicked. Stories evaporate after 24 hours so that there is no long term record unless someone does a "shot" and posts it on here or another "fan" site. It further occurs, therefore, that these story-posts are primarily for her genuine fan base and the evaporation limits their exposure to the casual voyeurs and Trolls (is that the right word) who haunt the main stream social media.
Regardless, what does it all mean? It's been suggested on here before that maybe Hayley enjoys the intrigue of all these cryptic posts, but what's the message? One strives to find a pattern; to put a story and a timeline onto it; but one fails. Perhaps they are random after all? The only constant seems to be an indication that new self-generated material (i.e. she's writing it herself with help from chums) is in development together with wispy hints that the occasional recording session might have happened. However the proof of the pudding is in the eating and people are getting hungry. In fact Libby's probably close to starvation!
Of course Hayley is perfectly entitled to do as she pleases and if the aforementioned money well is deep enough, she can spend the rest of her (hopefully long) life sitting on a beach, strumming a guitar and jotting down the odd bar or three of a song. I can think of worse ways to pass time.
If it were me, though, I'd be seriously bored by now, but I suppose that if making music (rather than listening to it) is your passion, at Hayley's level, motivation must be strong. Even so, how long does it take? Allowing for re-group time after the "anni horribilis" circa 2013-2015, it's still been a couple of years in gestation. I couldn't write a song to save my life, but I can do things in my chosen area of endeavour with ease which leave others awe-struck (even now in my dotage I'm still surprised by this) and do them rather more quickly. In short if you know how to do it, it's easy, if you don't it's hard. We all have our skill sets. I can't help remembering the early eighties when I was a "young person". We had bands like Duran Duran (yes, I was a "Durany") and "Madness" who, in those far off days of youth when the sun always shone, seemed to be punching out a top-10 hit every six weeks or so (well, maybe it was every two months).
As they say in the military "hurry up and wait". Ho hum!
