Well, we never hear Hayley in the shops here. If they did I would buy lots of stuff. That's how to get to me for sure. Oh, and I'm sure even with the complicated "hot bed" system we run in our house, we could find a bed for Hayley if she ever needs one in Leicester. I don't think she has ever been to our city, but perhaps one day... Martin D im sure you could. most of my friends would either voluntarily leave if the subject came up. or accomadate her in their houses

I am pleased Hayley isn't coming home for Christmas as I see on the news air travel is a nightmare at the moment. Meanwhile in Christchurch today we had one of our famous Nor-West winds which blow hot air so we reached 32 deg Celsius. Yesterday after I did my Christmas shopping I went for a paddle around Quail Island in the middle of lyttleton Harbour in my inflatable Kayak. Tonight I hope to see the solar eclipse of the moon as long as it isn't too cloudy.

Hi. I don't know how aware members are but Australia is in the midst of massive flooding especially in Queensland, I hope your OK up there Jillian, are you in the flood zone? We have minor flooding near here, mainly just the rivers and crossings and Menindee Lake is over flowing but I have volunteered my chopper to the SES and on standby for search and rescue at the moment mainly for people stranded on causeways etc. The floods in OZ cover an area bigger then France and Germany combined or bigger then the state of Victoria, so many people have lost their lives and they are expecting a lot more deaths, The water is on its way to Brisbane and they have started evacuating Brisbane residents, The Brisbane river has just broken its banks only a few minutes ago, my heart goes out to these people and it must be terrifying for so many. The Murrumbidgee river is breaking its banks in some parts and this could be a concern for outback travelers so as I said we are on standby for search and rescue if necessary. this is really bad. IT IS JUST SOOOO WET. much love Tracy.

Yes the flooding has been on the news here in NZ. I see that a lot of people are dead or missing in the flash floods today.

News of the Brisbane flooding is just getting to us here in the UK and there have been some pictures on Sky News - Thursday is supposed to see the worst of the flooding hit Central Brisbane. Jillian tweeted the following a little while ago and this morning So looks as though she is OK even if her home may not be By the way Tracy, I love the way you Ozzies look after each other in times of crisis and I'm really proud of you for volunteering for search and rescue duties although I have to say that for everyones sake I hope you're not needed. Lots of Love Grant xx

Hello Tracy,
Well done for volunteering. I heard on the radio this morning that helicopters are now being deployed in Queensland, so please let us know if you've been called into action.
Jillian, I hope the floods miss your new home.
You're both in my thoughts.
Love,
Richard xx

We had no water for two weeks as the water works flooded out. The whole downtown area was flooded for several weeks. Kudos to Tracy for volunteering the copter to help out. That doesn't surprise me. People do seem to bond together in a bad situation. When New Orleans was hit by the hurricane people came from all over the world to help out. They are still rebuilding down there after 5 years. The Australians are some of the most caring people on earth. Jillian, I hope you get through this with minimal problems. I hope the waters recede soon down there and people can get back to their normal lives. Larry

Just to update from this end and so glad your safe Jillian, thats sad news about your home my thoughts are with you and your family and friends, this flood and rain is unbelievable as it has affected 5 states in our country. The rain covers the entire east coast of OZ right down to Tasmania and as far inland as Alice Springs which is experiencing massive thunder storms as I type this. The worst areas affected are Queensland, northern NSW and minor flooding has been reported right around the coastline around into Adelaide and as far around the top end as Darwin. I spoke to Trace before she flew out before daybreak this morning, she was refueling in Broken Hill and assisting in ferrying food supplies to the north, please Trace don't be a hero, I know what outback people are like when it comes to pulling together in an emergency and your a gutsy little do'a but be careful. So many lives have been lost already. Just watching the news, Darwin and Adelaide are bracing for heavy down pours, thousands and thousands of people have been evacuated and its already described as the worst natural disaster in our history, hundreds of people are missing and its just getting worse. The dryout period after this is expected to take months, so much water and now the great Barrier Reef is under threat from the current runoff. Authorities expect at least 19,000 homes to be flooded in Brisbane and thousands more around OZ, power is out for thousands and thousands of people, this is really testing us as a nation. Please be careful Trace. regards Rob.

This is a shocking event, and in Brisbane the floods have not yet peaked, apparently. I hope everyone will get out of this safely, and with as little damage to their homes and businesses as possible. There are some awful videos of recent flooding events there, on the BBC News and many websites. Dave
