Had I not been so rushed today, I could have brought this to you a few hours ago. But, I suppose better late than never.
At just turned 11:15 pm last night (in the UK that is), Classic FM had the following - and I quote:
"You are listening to the evening concert on Classic FM, as we listen to the most successful debut album, Pure. Most successful anyway, regardless of whether it's a debut album or not. Featuring the New Zealand singing sensation, Hayley Westenra. Who, after 10 weeks is still no. 1 in the official Classic FM chart, and has the honour of having the Christmas no. 1"
They then played Benedictus.
So, there we have it, folks. Pure is the Christmas classical no. 1 in the UK.
That's excellent news Keith, and thanks for mentioning it because it prompted me to poke around the classic fm website a bit. I discovered their playlist search engine that let me search for all things Hayley on the station, for the last four days and next two days!
I see that tracks from Pure have been played on 3 out of the last four days, not bad. Unfortunately, nothing is scheduled now until after Christmas, probably about 11:45 on Saturday morning, when they play the number one in the classical album chart.
I guess we'll have to make do with her appearances on TV over Christmas. Oh, and my Christmas present... Pure!
