Thanks for the lyrics, Graeme! I think the ninth line of the song is actually "Who broke your heart?", and again each time Hayley repeats the line. Best Wishes, Richard Thanks Richard....I agree with you now soundwise. Not sure tho how "I won't question" fits in with that Graeme

I think Richard is right about "Who broke your heart". The line right before that is "how was your day?". The line after it is, "what can I say?", which works with the line either way.
I'm not sure about the "to be" part. To me, it sounded like "to be", except at the end I thought it sounded more like "today". I'm trying to think which makes more sense.
We'll just have to find out when it comes out on her album.
Yes, I'm sure it will be on her album. She went to the trouble to work with someone to write a song. Now, she's testing it out at her concerts to see what people think. And since people seem to be liking it, she will most likely record it for her album. She recorded Songbird because people liked it when she sang it at concerts, too.

Hi Ross and everyone I agree with the Who broke your heart?. And IMO it is "to be". Yes, I agree with "Who broke your heart?" but I still think it is "today" - Hayley looks towards the camera at the very end and it seems quite clear to me. Best wishes Grant

Best wishes Grant That's weird because to me it clearly sounds like "to be". And I guess the sentence would make sense as "How it really feels to be" if the extended meaning is "How it really feels to be (broken hearted)"...because the songs is called "Talk To Me", and as Richard pointed out there is the line "Who broke your heart?".

Thanks Steve and Dave for this wonderful video. I think in my enthusiasm I forgot to thank you before.
This is the new Hayley isn't it? The little girl, lovely as she was, is gone! This is the full grown woman. And she is fabulous. This is the most adult and mature performance I have seen from Hayley. If this is her new direction, bring it on!
And I might add, it was brilliantly captured on this video. Thanks Steve.

Thanks so much for posting that! Hayley certainly sings with emotion here -- probably because it's her song and it must mean something to her. It'll be interesting to hear what a studio recorded version of this will sound like -- sometimes different musical backing can really change how a song sounds.
I don't suppose any other songs were recorded from this concert?

I'm going back and forth on "who broke your" and "ooh broken". When I listened to it after I saw Richard's comment, I thought for sure he was right. Then the next time, I thought it could be either way. It never really sounds like she's saying "Who", though. It sounds more like "whoo". At first, I really couldn't understand her at all in that line until Graeme posted the "lyrics". Grant, maybe she says "to be" through all of it except at the end. Remember, I thought it sounded more like it there, but everywhere else sounded like "to be". So, you may be right about that part. I'm the same one who used to think the words in Summer Rain were "Gone like summer rain" instead of "You're my summer rain". So, what do I know? Okay, you're all going to have to ask her next time you see her!

Really?? To me the last time she says it, it clearly sounds like "to be", it doesn't sound anything like "today"..

Hi Jono and Libby Ha! Looks like Hayley's going to have the final word on this. I had to listen to the song several more times and I think I'm comfortable with "Who broke your heart" but now I'm not sure of "to be" or "today"! I'm still a little confused about what the song is about Best wishes Grant

I'm still a little confused about what the song is about Me Too, So far I've had 3 ideas but none really fit completely. 1st idea: Hayley was talk to someone she loves (but then why "Tell me your name") 2nd idea: was the song was coming from a mothers perspective talking to a child. (but then why "Tell me your name" still doesn't fit) 3rd idea: is Hayley is talking to a stranger, somebody who's been hurt as "I won't Question" supports my idea here But I'd love to found out what Hayley's idea behind this song really is. She could be talking to someone she knows a little bit but who won't open up to her as she seems to know something about them ("broken heart?) and she really wants to help. It could be a child; someone she really likes; it could even be a homeless person she's seen or someone from one of her UNICEF trips. Wonder if we'll ever know? Best wishes Grant

Or perhaps someone she has just met who she instinctively likes and she can tell has been hurt. That's my theory anyway.

Hi All Let's not forget that this wonderful composition, Talk to Me, was co-written with Beth Orton so it may well have been his storyline. One thing is for sure - it is a definite question for Hayley the next time we see her. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifMartin
