Nice to see Paradiso moving up considerably on Amazon UK. Five days ago it had sunk to a little more than 11,000, but then turned around and began to climb steadily. A few minutes ago, it was at 946 (21 Easy Listening). Perhaps the publicity for her up-coming performance has helped move it up.

Hi Richard and everyone, I thought it was about time to resurrect this Unofficial Charts thread, to make it easier to track progress over the next few weeks. There are of course several relevant charts at Amazon UK so here are four of them, right now. We can also look back to see how Paradiso and the previous albums performed at Amazon. No. 1 - Best Sellers in ‹ Music ‹ Opera & Vocal < Song < SopranoNo. 6 - Bestsellers in ClassicalNo. 51 - Hot New Releases in MusicNo. 297 - Bestsellers in MusicThe most stable and most important is the last section (Bestsellers in Music) because by the day before release, that will broadly reflect where the album will be in the main album chart, but see below. Classical is also important, assuming that Hushabye will officially qualify as classical. The most volatile will be New Releases because every Monday morning, all that week's releases suddenly drop out and all the others shoot up the New Releases chart, which is what happened to Hushabye yesterday. Tne highest I've seen Hushabye in the main bestsellers category was in the 90s, in the first two days after it reappeared on Amazon UK with the new title. At this stage (but a few days closer to release date than now) Paradiso was #253 overall in Music at Amazon UK but differences of 50 or 100 mean very little at this early stage (until it gets into the top 100). The other thing to remember is that if Hushabye appears on supermarket shelves on release day, its official charts position will be similar to or higher than at Amazon... but if it fails to appear on supermarket shelves (like Winter Magic) it will chart very much lower than at Amazon, or not at all in the main chart. Classical crossover music tends to be downloaded much less than many other genres, so downloads won't help much. It's crucial for Decca to get this album into UK supermarkets and we won't know that for certain until release day. Cheers, Dave

I would think they would have to put something like this in supermarkets/stores, otherwise this CD would be a waste of time. But, if this is truly a "cash grab" by Decca, as many of us suspect, then I would think they would put it in stores. Especially something that has to do with the Royals. They obviously realize the Royals are of interest to a lot of people, so it just makes sense to put this CD in stores.

Hi Libby,
I agree with you, in which case the Amazon Classical and main Music chart positions will eventually (just before release) be a rough guide to its chart entry positions in the official charts. I just wanted to mention the other (unlikely) possibility though.
Once we see Decca starting to spend real money on promotion, including TV appearances and possibly releasing Sleep On as a single, that will pretty much guarantee that it's going into the supermarkets for a few weeks in June/July.
Cheers, Dave

Yes, I would hope the supermarkets will stock it. If Decca are serious, a few TV adverts might help but timing them, around the royal birth, will be crucial. I think the push should be at the time of the birth, which is a few weeks after the release date. Might be a double peak insales, the first on release for Hayley fans, and at the time of the birth for Kate and William fans.

If those headlines I saw via Yahoo news were correct, then the birth would be nearly a month after the release.

Hi All -. With full belief in Dave's savvy analysis of relevant charts,( reply #331 just above in this thread), I have to say how mighty nice I find it to see "Hushabye" at 72 in Amazon's Best Sellers chart, and heading up, and at 16 in their Hot New Releases chart. And it looks as if Susie called it correctly with her prediction of a few days ago.

Hi Bob, I made a note of Hushabye's Amazon main chart position this afternoon when I was recording Hayley's Radio 2 interview. It was then #329 so a nice surge, was that! It will of course do this soon after each bit of promo appears in the popular media - and BBC Radio 2 is at the top of the pile in UK radio! Currently no. 1 in Classical, incidentally. Cheers, Dave

"Hushabye" has risen to No. 133 in the main albums chart, staying steady at No. 10 in Pre-Orders, and rising to No. 1 in the Classical charts. However, I'm not sure that Kanye West's new album and the "Man Of Steel" soundtrack releasing on the exact same day will help at all in the Pre-Orders chart. -Taylor i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif
