Hi Richard, Thank you for posting this remarkable news. As time goes on, whenever Pure disappears from the Top 30, it seems less and less likely that it will ever reappear. For it to re-enter now, five and a half years after it's release is incredible. Yes, it was indeed in 7th position in this morning's chart show when they played 'In Trutina'. Well, done, Hayley!

Hi Richard and Roger (and any other knowledgeable soul for that matter i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif)Pure's persistent resurgence in the charts never ceases to amaze me, and I'm delighted to see it back up at No.7 once more! Do any other performers have albums which have had such recurring success? I can't think of any Best wishes Grant

Hello Grant! Russell Watson's album 'The Voice' is another re-entry at No.8 in this week's Classic FM Chart, and that was released back in 2000. The album is currently available at Amazon.co.uk for only £3.98, which could explain its revival. Further investigation reveals that the bonus CD edition of 'Pure' is available at Amazon.co.uk for £4.98. Those revolving links on Classic FM's website are very useful. Richard

I suppose part of the explanation may be that Hayley mentions Pure at almost every concert and at that time she has the undivided attention of that audience.
so out of every two thousand people in an audience at least some percentage of these must seek out Hayley's earlier recordings.
Who could possibly resist...?
Dave could probably tell us how many "Units" are required to put Pure back on the chart.
I also assume when Hayley stocks up the CDs that go on sale at concerts, that these also count as sold units. So is the required number something like 500 or a thousand units.

So is the required number something like 500 or a thousand units. Hi Paul, I haven't had any recent sales figures for the classical chart but based on April 2007 and allowing for a general decline in album sales since then, I'd guess at no more than roughly 500 units sold for last week's Classic FM no. 7. All this jumping about in the charts by old and now budget priced albums like "Pure" and Katherine's "Premiere" can be caused by their appearance in the news or on almost any TV programme - as long as record shops (mainly supermarkets in the case of classical crossover) have the albums in stock. The Rhydian news and Classical Brits appeared after this chart was compiled so it wasn't that. Most likely, it dropped out the week before because some supermarket ran out of stock, and it's in the chart again this week because it (or another supermarket, possibly even HMV) has received a new batch of budget "Pure" to coincide with Hayley's return to the UK. I expect this sort of intermittent in-out up-down pattern to continue indefinitely as long as Hayley's career in the UK continues! Incidentally, this is again the original 13 track version of Pure so the two CD special edition seems to be limited now to any stores that happen to have old stocks left over. Now, who's going to be the first to discover which supermarket has them in stock? Cheers, Dave

I Dave and everybody, I wonder if it has something to do with the "I Dream a dream" song, Susan Boyle and BGT, there's a lot of new comments on Youtube in the past week, and it seems that more people are discovering Hayley!? Best wishes, Paulo Correia

Hi Paul, The sales are indeed recorded one at a time at a retail level, about 90% of sales outlets (including online stores like Amazon) are included electronically in the system. The other 10% are estimated and added on. The charts are based on genuine across the counter sales. Cheers, Dave

When shopping in Hull yesterday, I noticed that they were selling the original version of Pure in Tesco for only £3.

The continuing sales of Pure would suggest that the general public see this as Hayley's best CD. HSJS2 is not known widely enough; or available anywhere near the current price of Pure Graham

Hello Jim! If you bought the bonus CD edition as well as the original UK version of 'Pure', you now have three copies of the original CD. Check the catalogue numbers printed on the actual CDs. Richard
