Pure has reached its highest position to date in the Classical chart, with only Josh Groban higher - he's at number 1 & 2.
US: Hayley has dropped out of the Billboard 200 and Internet Sales chart again - but the good news is she held the no. 2 spot in the Classical Crossover chart - so she's probably only just outside the Billboard 200.

It's now week 47 for "Pure" in the UK Classical Artist chart - and Hayley has just moved up from 4th to 2nd place. The top "Artist" album this week is, amazingly, "The Armed Man - A Mass for Peace" by Karl Jenkins! Hayley does, of course, perform her own version of "Benedictus" from that album, on "Pure".

It went straight to the top of the NZ pop album chart and stayed in the top 10 for 9 months. This week, it is up 11 places to 27th. place.
UK: Pure goes up to 8th. in the Classic FM chart, which is full of compilations and soundtracks this week. The only other "Artist" above Hayley is Karl Jenkins and only by one place. So Pure *almost* made the top of the Classical Artist Chart and as Karl Jenkins is the composer/conductor, Hayley is the *only* vocalist or instrumentalist in the Classic FM top ten. Every one of her challengers over the last year has faded away...
Ireland: Pure is back in the Irish Classical top ten after an absence of several months

UK Classical Artist Chart - back to the top! Pure has today regained the top spot in the UK Classical Artist chart - after an absence of 10 weeks! This is astonishing as there has been no publicity, no TV or radio appearances and virtually no airplay in the UK for over two months. The most likely explanation is that the CD continues to sell, based "Purely" on word of mouth recommendations and nothing else. If Decca would re-release this album for Christmas, preferably with a bonus disc (chart rules permitting), I am sure it would get back into the UK pop charts and could still reach that elusive triple platinum. Come on Decca, Hayley will be in the UK in November - let's have a re-release in time for Christmas!!!

This is wonderful news but leads me to ask a question.
Would sales of any forthcoming re-release (with or without a bonus disc) count towards the original album going triple platinum, or would counting begin again as though it was a new album? After all, it would presumably have it own individual catalogue number?
Sincere congratulations to Hayley form all of us on today's spectacular achievement.

This is wonderful news but leads me to ask a question. Would sales of any forthcoming re-release (with or without a bonus disc) count towards the original album going triple platinum, or would counting begin again as though it was a new album? After all, it would presumably have it own individual catalogue number? Sales can be combined for chart purposes if at least 80% of the tracks are common to both versions of the CD. I assume this would apply to awards (such as platinum) too. Having a different catalogue number isn't a problem. Also, remixes/live/extended versions of the original tracks are exempt from the 80% rule, which makes it easier. So if the original Pure is kept intact, a bonus CD could be included with 3 or 4 new tracks plus some remixes of the original songs. Decca would have to be careful not to fall foul of the classical chart rules - I read somewhere that Pure in the UK had to be changed at the last minute to get it into the classical charts. I assume that's why there are two versions of Hine e Hine and no "Across the Universe of Time". So if they included "Across.." on a bonus disc, they'd need an extra classical song to balance it - and I can't think of any that Hayley's done recently apart from live concert versions or old tracks from her NZ-only albums. This is what I'd include on the bonus disc: Across the Universe of Time My Heart and I Ave Maria sung live (e.g. at Hampton Court) Rule Britannia sung live (e.g. at Hampton Court) Pokarekare Ana - acoustic guitar mix. A few other remixes, too. Possibly a video or two (of P.A. and W.H?). If Decca did most of that, I'd buy "Pure" all over again - and I reckon the re-release could easily push the UK combined sales to triple platinum and possibly past one million by Christmas. They should not forget that the UK is still by far and away Hayley's biggest market in the World, yet the UK version of "Pure" has fewer different tracks on it than any other major market. Neglect Hayley's biggest fanbase at your peril, Decca! Shall we start a campaign? i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

Could anyone enlighten us on this chart news from South Africa (http://www.classicfm.co.za/website/docs/top20.jsp):
(Date: July 24) ClassicFM Top 20 This week: 14 Last week: 12 Weeks on chart: 37
There is no news of Pure having been released in South Africa - yet it has apparently been 37 weeks in the ClassicFM Top 20 there.

Gerrit This is great news and I've just had a look around the ClassicFM S.A. website but unfortunately there seem to be no links to their current chart, otherwise I could have added it to my charts list. I'll try again in a week or two. I haven't heard of any SA release either but it looks like the standard International version may have been issued there on 3rd October 2003 (there's a branch of Universal in SA). That's how it's listed on the Take 2, SA website and it's pretty good going, 37+ weeks in the classical charts when we didn't even know it had been released there. Good spot, Gerrit! 2nd para. updated with new information at 01:00 BST, 20 August. (well 01:28 according to proboards!)

UK: Pure regains the top spot in the official Classical Artist chart, after languishing between 2nd and 4th for a couple of months. It is also up 4 places to 4th, in the Classic FM chart - which is dominated again by film soundtracks and compilations (8 out of the top 10).
Australia: Pure re-enters the Australian HMV classical chart this week after an absence of several months. Interestingly, two further Andrea Bocelli albums have also re-entered (making three in all) so it is probably advance publicity about his September tour (where Hayley will be a guest singer at some venues) that's done the trick.

UK: Pure drops back to 2nd in the Classical Artist chart, Greek tenor Mario Frangoulis has a new CD - straight into the chart at number 1. However... Classic FM have *excluded* the Frangoulis CD from their new classical chart. Amazon have excluded it, too - although HMV have it as Classical. It certainly sounds more pop than classical to my ears and it must have given the chart compilers a headache trying to decide.
I've never known Classic FM exclude something that's been allowed in the official Classical Artist chart before - so Hayley had better watch out when deciding what tracks to include in her next CD!

UK: Pure is back at the top of UK Classical Artist chart, last week's number 1 Mario Frangoulis has been thrown out of the chart, following his exclusion last week from the Classic FM chart. There seem to have been too many "easy listening" pop songs on it, and not enough classical. Most unusual - so watch out, Decca!

New chart milestone for Pure
Pure has maintained its 4th. position in the new UK Classical Artist chart, out today, and this is its 52nd weekly appearance in that chart - all consecutive. It will undoubtedly achieve the same milestone in the Classic FM chart, when it's published on Friday.
This appears to be the first time that any of Hayley's CDs has reached 52 weeks in any official chart anywhere in the World, including the earlier NZ releases (Pure is currently out of the NZ pop chart, stalling at 51 weeks, and does not qualify for the NZ classical chart).
Pure was released in the UK on September 15th, 2003.
Classical fans may be interested to know that the new CD by Ludovici Einaudi entered the UK Pop Album chart at 59 today, and the Classical Artist chart at number 1. Bond's new CD "Classified" entered the pop chart even higher, at 32 - but Bond have once again been excluded from the UK classical chart.
Top 4 UK Classical Artists:
1. Ludovici Einaudi 2. Grimethorpe Colliery Band 3. Amici Forever 4. Hayley.

UK: Pure has now been in the UK classical charts for 52 weeks, the first time any of her CDs have been in any chart anywhere in the World for a whole year's worth of weeks, if you see what I mean. Ludovici Einaudi's new CD is top.
NZ: will probably hit 52 weeks next week - I'd bet a tenner that Pure will be back in the pop chart next week, after Hayley's appearance at Andrea Bocelli's concert! Maybe the Oz classical chart too, for the same reason
Edit: UK Classical Artist position corrected from 3 to 4.

NZ: Pure hits 52 weeks in the NZ chart with a re-entry - following her performance at Andrea's Christchurch concert.
But the big news in NZ is teenage Christchurch singer Yulia Townsend entering at number 1 with her debut album "Into the West", and an immediate Platinum, too. Even Hayley didn't manage that with her debut NZ album, "Hayley" - it entered at 10 with a "Gold" before shooting to number 1 with a Platinum the very next week. Well done to Yulia, who has a lovely voice and a cute Russian-NZ accent to go with it
Germany: Pure is out in Germany this week and reached the Amazon.de top 30 at one time on Monday. It's currently in the sixties there so it will be interesting to see if it can make next week's official album chart, hopefully higher than it did in the US (70). Fingers crossed!
Added, below UK: More funny goings-on in the UK classical charts this week. James Galway's "Wings of Song" is top of the new Classical FM chart but was completely excluded from the Classical Artist chart, the reason is a mystery (it sounds Classical to me!). Oh well, it pushed Hayley up a place in the Artist chart I wonder if they'll change their minds and let it in next week? Hmmm...
