Festival Theatre 13/29 Nicholson Street , Edinburgh , Midlothian Nicola Benedetti & RSNO - Sunday 9th September 2007
Nicola Benedetti will make her debut at the Festival Theatre performing alongside the RSNO. Nicola will now be opening the second half of the concert with Vaughan Williams, The Lark Ascending. The current programme is as follows: Schubert: Overture in Italian style in D major D590, Bruch: Violin Concerto No.1 in G minor Op.26 -Interval-Vaughan Williams: The Lark Ascending, Beethoven: Symphony No.4 in B flat Major Op.60. Winner of the BBC Young Musician of the Year award in May 2004, Benedetti's maturity and intelligence complement her technical and musical accomplishments as a violinist. Since then she has reached numerous concert and recording milestones, including playing at the opening of the Scottish Parliament, at the BBC Prom in the Park, and working with numerous orchestras, including the Philharmonia and LSO. Nicola has recently received 3 nominations, more than anyone else, following the April launch of the Classical Brits Awards 2007.
I'm pleased to say that thanks to a fortuitously-timed phonecall from Andrew (Cheers! i21.photobucket.com/albums/b294/hdjoespics/EEjdKsU.gif) I was able to go along to this concert, it was absolutely fantastic, and a wonderful first time for me seeing Nicola in concert. Great to see so many positive reviews for her performance in the Scotsman.
Managed to go along to HMV at lunchtime today where I briefly met Nicola and had a copy of her new CD signed by her! i21.photobucket.com/albums/b294/hdjoespics/EEjdKsU.gif Not much time for photos or chat unfortunately as the place was full of other people, but it's great to have met her anyway. Right now I'm just listening to The Lark Ascending from the CD itself.
