It's time to say goodbye to "Con Te Partiro" -- No doubt she'll re-record this when she's older and can give it more depth.

You really know how to hurt a guy. I listen to that song of hers all the time. Let's pull the plug on her "Pie Jesu" -- she sang it brilliantly at Carnegie Hall, but her studio version (from "Hayley Westenra") wasn't all that impressive. Why don't we pull the plug on this thread... I can think of many more positive ones for starting a new year off with! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifAndrew Hi Andrew, I must support you here...it is heart breaking to read the eliminations as they have continued !!! 100 Great Things about Hayley was good, clean and positive fun, but shooting down Hayley's Life's work is not....not to me anyway !! Of course it is my choice to vote or not to vote, but my post now is about a general view of this thread !!! Love Marianne

Andrew and Marianne,
Had we asked for members to nominate one song which they WOULD like included until 15 had been named, I imagine you would have been happy with that. But that would have been a virtual repeat of threads such as 'Name your favourite track' which has been done before on several occasions. Also, the requisite number would have been reached before many members had the chance to contribute which would not have resulted in a forum-wide view.
To select favourites by a process of elimination is a perfectly acceptable way of chosing anything. To suggest that anyone is shooting down Hayley's life's work is utterly absurd and, after all the time and effort that I have put into the running of this forum, I find it highly offensive.
I am sure you are relieved to know that the target has nearly been reached. I can further assure you that I will NOT be starting any more "fun" threads in the foreseeable future.
With almost 80 replies in little more than 48 hours makes it one of the most active threads we have ever had. Without it, this forum would have seemed pretty dead as there was never likely to be much else going on during this holiday period.
My thanks to those who have supported this thread. It is a shame that not all members are as supportive of the forum as a whole.
Roger

Leaving aside the grumbling... I am stuck. I really REALLY don't know what to kill off next, I am struggling... and I've heard all of them (but I am mindful of how a couple would likely sound if Hayley re-recorded them today - which she would probably have to do for everything prior to Pure). Help me!!! If we can only have recordings which exist now, I know which two to kill off next... but these would in fact make fabulous bonus tracks if re-recorded now by Hayley. Hint/plea: Sarah Brightman has 17 tracks on her recent "Best of" and Russell Watson has 20 tracks on his. Cheers, Dave

I'm back with renewed courage.

Okay folks, that brings it down to 20 and, partly due to Dave's plea for a longer album, and partly because I am feeling generous, 20 it shall be. The tracks collectively chosen by HWI members are:
Across the Universe of Time Beat Of Your Heart Bridal Ballad Dark Waltz Down To The River Heaven Hine e Hine In Trutina May It Be Mists Of Islay, The Mummers’ Dance, The Never Saw Blue Never Say Goodbye Pokarekare Ana Prayer River Of Dreams Scarborough Fair Water Is Wide What You never Know (Won’t Hurt You) Who Painted The Moon Black?
Please don't nominate any more songs but the thread remains open in case members would like to discuss those which have been chosen.

OK then!
Let's say goodbye to "In Trutina" It's not that I don't like it - I just like everything else better!!
It'll take a brave few souls to 'hit' some of the survivors, but I guess we'll have a great album at the end.
Grant
P.S. Roger, don't be too hard on Marianne and Andrew, I feel the same in a way, even though I know it's only in fun, it still hurts to see favourites eliminated. I do agree though, there wouldn't have been much happening without this thread and fun threads are just that! - FUN

Like the thread or not, I think the end result would make for a fabulous 'Best Of' album. What we need now is a 'favourite photo' for the cover Grant

I agree with ten of those songs, which is really good for a Best Of album!
Well done everyone. And thank you all so much for keeping 'Dark Waltz' and 'Never Saw Blue'. <3
Roger, please don't be offended, some people take to things differently, just let it be.
I find it silly that it has been termed as 'shot down' though. Let's be realistic, everybody has their least favourites! To say you love all songs would be a lie. As for naming a shaming them, what's the harm in that when everyone in the whole world are fully aware that everyone has different tastes.
It was a fun thread, Roger, so please don't be discouraged from starting a thread like this again. The opinion is the minority. <3

Hi All, i think i may have mentioned shot down in one of my posts re everyone appearing to pick on Walking in the Air Songs, that they had not heard. but i think it may also have been used later also. I think the feeling among some later on was the remarks /unintentional put downs attached to the selections .Not really the selections themselves.A whole thread of them i guess doesn't really seem very supportive, even if it wasn't meant that way and was only in fun. Things can be read differently by different people, and if we all thought the same what fun would that be. A good result in the End but i ain't going to buy it,To many songs i have many times. Roger will be back with a fun thread soon enough I'm sure i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI don't think he will be able to stop himself Am i right or am i right Belinda
