Oh yes, that was when she went on that interesting little shopping spree. You know, it just dawned on me that TMRMH would be EXTREMELY successful for Hayley as a single in Taiwan, maybe China & JP too. Can't believe it took me that long! I feel so slow now. -Taylor i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

This was the same trip where she sang that amazing rendition of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas by that big indoor Christmas tree. Best performance of that song I've ever heard.

Except when I heard her sing HMAMLC live in the Birmingham Symphony Hall on the Winter Magic tour. Sitting on the front row of my favourite hall, about 6 feet away from my favourite singer giving a performance like that. Life doesn't get any better!

Are you sure that is right? According to my records, the Tainan concert in 2011 was 14th December. But I think she visited Taiwan on her way out to NZ when she bought that dress. Don't remember anything aout a concert though (but my memory is not 100% reliable). Martin D

Hi All, What I consider a very touching scene was captured during that trip. When Hayley was singing with the group of Taiwanese school children, the little girl standing next to Hayley, to Hayley's right, obviously becomes very taken with Hayley. Watch her eyes as she spends a good part of the time while singing looking up adoringly at Hayley. She is even lucky enough to hold Hayley's hand. After the singing, Hayley and the girl exchange a huge extended bear hug. You can see the girl give a little shudder of joy after the hug. Hayley definitely made that girl's day. That is our Hayley, true to form! Unfortunately, the hug was not captured in the singing video. Singing video - www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSXwbuO5ccg The hug may be seen at the end of the brief newscast video below. www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGdxtCEK9n0&feature=relatedEnjoy, BobS

The shopping trip and a few other performances were all part of the promotion I believe.

It was made famous by the former singer Teresa Ten, who had a huge fan base in China, Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong and other parts of Asia. Some would say this is most popular Chinese song of all time. This song is 40 years old and aging like fine wine. Hayley's cover of Teresa's songs like TMRMH and Sweet as Honey will certainly be popular. A release in May or in 2015 might be extra memorable as Teresa passed away in May of 1995.

Sitting on the front row of my favourite hall, about 6 feet away from my favourite singer giving a performance like that. Life doesn't get any better! Martin D Martin, I meant as compared to other versions, by other singers. Anyway, I was not present at that concert, so obviously the one I hear is the best I've heard. Plus, I've never heard her live, in person. And I hear she's best live, so yeah, you probably heard it better than ever when you were there, but I didn't have that privilege, unfortunately. But I'm not so sure she was at her best voice back in 2009, in the pre-Paradiso era. I prefer the Christmas videos from 2010 over the 2009 ones. And she was done recording the album by Christmastime, so that explains it somewhat, I think. Anyway, what sounds best to one person doesn't necessarily sound so to another. For example, I still prefer the outdoor recordings of BOTW and YRMU, but everyone else seems to prefer the slightly more tinny (to my ears) sound of the indoor concert in Kaohsiung. I just think the outdoors made a difference in the sound quality. And because have nothing against drums.

That's very interesting! They made her sound so echoey, so that her tone sounded more nasally and "young" than she really does. But it doesn't have a lot of views, for being there nearly 6 months! There won't likely be any news on who's singing for this year's movie till much later this year. I think Neil Finn wasn't announced until maybe November... though it might have been sooner. Last year, the London Philharmonic Orchestra recorded it in early September, I think. At Abbey Road studios, if I'm not mistaken. The next 2 movies will have plenty of elves (and 1 new major female character), so hopefully a feminine voice will be better-suited than the first movie. Though the story is still a pretty masculine story. The only females in the Unexpected Journey were Galadriel and Biblo's pony, Myrtle. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif The new wood-elf, Tauriel, will appear in the next movie, alongside Legolas. In the book, when the dwarves were in Mirkwood, they started hearing very beautiful singing (by the wood-elves), which was also a little eerie, too. We all know Hayley's voice is very beautiful, and I'm sure she could make her voice a bit eerie, too, if she wanted to. That's if they use this part of the story in the film, and I really hope they do... well, only if they let Hayley do the singing. But Howard Shore has been known to use lesser-known vocalists within the movie itself, so you never know what he'll do this time. Although I found an address for Howard Shore (not his house, don't worry, lol), since he hasn't answered, there's no way to know if he even saw my letters. I did receive replies from Peter Jackson through his staff, though.
