Anytime I've seen her on stage she's always wearing 3" heels but I don't think she wears them for signing sessions. Whenever I've had my pic taken with her I've never noticed her shoes, I'm too busy looking at the camera ! Sorry, that's not much help is it ?! I'm personally convinced she doesn't l iike wearing them at all--she does so for practical reasons as i discussed with the lady next to me at Llandudno: "At Cadogan Hall I had at last got round to asking Hayley the question I have kept forgetting since I first met with her—how high are those heels? I told her to say ‘pass’ if the question was too impertinent. Being Hayley her response was, ‘I don’t know’, promptly turning her leg, raising her heel above the ground and looking back—she was wearing flat shoes at the time. I don’t think she lifted her heel as high as her shoe heels in fact and taking my cue from the lady next to me, who had commented about how fragile and doll-like Hayley appeared, I regaled the Cadogan incident. ‘Well I’m barely five feet, myself and I reckon those are three-inch heels’, she said. Previously, I had reckoned on three to three-and-a-half inches, she seems at times almost on ballerina’s points. At Cadogan I had reckoned on two-and-a-half to three inches. The lady and I agreed on three inches. ‘I don’t think she likes wearing them,’ I presumed further. She wears flat shoes off-stage and I think she wears high heels dependent upon what or who else is on stage with her, a point I had forgotten to raise with Hayley. ‘That explains it, then,’ the lady said. ‘I’ve noticed that when she moves she is very careful how she places her feet.’" In other words she wears them rarely, i.e. for stage purposes only, or perhaps gala events. Hi again Peter ! I've just read your excellent report on Llandudno and your comments on Hayley's footwear. I can just see the headlines now: "Man with tape measure throws himself at Hayley's feet !" We could speculate further........I think she takes a size 6 but I don't really know, I've never asked her.

Hi Peter, Personally I think Hayley really suits her elegant high heels. In my opinion she looks very comfortable wearing them on stage too- her walk is very elegant Any woman wearing high heels will tell you that it's very easy for their feet to slip whilst wearing them. Hayley is probably being cautious that she doesn't slip whilst she's on stage. Have you ever noticed how often fashion models striding down the catwalk slip whilst wearing their high heels? Regards, Andrew

I would like to think walking elegantly comes easy to Hayley as a trained ballet dancer, but I know at least one trained dancer who admits to being a klutz when she's not on stage, so the one doesn't follow the other necessarily.
Size 6 or 7 (US) sounds about right given her height, and I agree, she looks more elegant in heels, most women do. I also think she probably doesn't care for them when not on stage, though, she probably is wicked uncomfortable in them, it's one of the sacrifices she makes for performance, and I bet she loves these casual gigs where she can wear something more comfortable like her boots or flats.

My riposte is, why paint the lily or gild refined gold? Peter

Peter Hi Peter, You only let us down in one small area of your report... You mentioned that Hayley highlighted her toenails in red nail polish? Well we expected you to find out the manufacturer's name (i.e. was it "Rimmel"? ) and name given to that particular shade of red polish... You've still got some work to do Peter... Regards, Andrew

I think there is a world of difference between walking in ballet dance pumps and walking on high heels. Observing her feet this week-end the straps around her ankles were quite loose whereas dancing pumps are tightly bound to the foot so they are an integral part of the dancer, as opposed to the dancer's feet being 'in shoes'. Makes a world of difference in your ability to walk confidently. Peter

I think we have to be careful not to embarrass her and to put her on too high a pedestal, after all, the key message that I thinks comes from Hayley is SIMPLICITY: I'm just a girl wanting tio sing a song. However, There is someting so decent upon her and her family I think there is something spiritual emanating from the girl. Peter

I only hope Hayley doesn't risk anything too dangerous. Climbing can be a very dangerous sport - even for very experienced climbers. Hayley probably enjoys the adrenaline rush from high climbing. She should be used to it after her history of climbing the charts! There is an aspect here in that she may well be somewhat restricted by her insurance. She must have some insurance to cover cancellation due to illness/accident/transport failures (planes) if only to cover the hall and gig booking. That may well restrict her from doing anything too dangerous or risky. Peter Peter

Peter Hi Peter, I don't worship Hayley as such, but I'm completely bowled over by her rare qualities in terms of her gifts (singing and her approachable manner with people) in addition to her fun loving but genuine personality. Whilst Hayley promotes a clean living and very healthy lifestyle, she is also very in touch with the world around her. Hayley's involvement with UNICEF demonstrates that she is committed and caring. She is a great example to us all and has a positive influence over many. Regards, Andrew

I agree with that, I been there, done that, and worshipping any entertainer is a recipe for heartbreak. Hayley's great, but also thoroughly human.
