Hello Jon! Most of the moderating I do is general housekeeping, including fixing links that don't work, resizing images to fit the forum, and correcting tags, especially in quotes. I don't often delete or change words, although I have to do it occasionally, and if it's anything serious I usually send the member a PM. I've just looked through your last 50 posts and I remember the problem in the one that I edited. You tried to put a word in italics but one of the square brackets was missing, so I inserted it for you. I try to keep the forum looking tidy, but moderators on other forums might not be so fussy, or observant! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest Wishes, Richard

Thank you, Richard. I believe the huge majority of moderating that is done on this forum is housekeeping which is for the benefit of the poster; and not in any way critical of the content of their posts.

Roger That is a very good point to emphasise, Roger. In fact one should bear in mind a long-established tradition in publishing--most writers benefit from a good editor. The publisher/writer is a crticial working relationship and in this context Moderators and Posters should be seen as Members of a team co-ordinating the final ofering, not as performer and critic expressing diverging views. There is a certain degree of speech censorship and double standards in this forum . And you think that this is very funny

Well yes, because I haven't seen any evidence of either of those.

"" I haven't seen any evidence of either of those. "" Of course , you haven't . Any post that does not conform to the norm in this forum will be deleted in a split second . Don't you know that repression is at its height when there is no complaint

Or, just thinking outside the box here, there aren't any complaints because they can't find anything to complain about? Sorry if that's a bit confrontational, it's just this is starting to sound like a conspiracy to me.

Hey, I'm all for fairy-tales, but last time I checked, I'm as real as the monitor in front of you. But getting back to the 'censorship', what proof do you have?

""But getting back to the 'censorship', what proof do you have? ""
I don't think I am in any position to disclose the PMs that I had received .
And in my "Not-so-humble" opinion , the PMs that I had received are rather cut-throat and threatening .
That's all I have to say .

"""but you want me to take your word for their content...? """
I never want you to do that . I've never tried to shove my words down your throat .
We agree to disagree . I have my own opinions and so do you .
And regarding disclosing the "proof" , don't you think that there are some privacy issues involved there .
And besides , even if I disclosed them , you may not interpret those messages the way I did .

If either of you are unsure about what is considered off-topic in this forum, the following post which was made a considerable time ago should help: Off Topic PostsIn addition, any thread that flares up into an unacceptable personal argument between members will be looked at closely. However, very few posts indeed are ever deleted by staff; the vast majority of deletions (by a very considerable margin) are done by the member who originally posted them. And the vast majority of work done by the staff here (yes, it IS work) is of a routine nature as explained by Richard. We have to strike a balance. I have today read many bitter complaints by members on another forum I visit, one of the UK's biggest forums at www.digitalspy.co.uk . This was because the moderators took as long as 5 hours to remove an offensive argumentative and potentially libellous thread, in spite of many valid requests from members to do so. I hope that we do somewhat better than that at HWI. But now, we should get back on topic for this thread. Dave
