To Santa's little helpers
Could someone advise how I get an avatar created from a photo, in particular the photo of Hayley at the Gawsworth soundcheck in her stunning red dress. Until I am fortunate enough to have a photo alongside Hayley this is my second best choice.
Thanks Martin

Hi Martin,
Assuming you are hosting the required picture, it is actually very simple. Click on the "Profile" button, then on "Modify Profile". Scroll down a little way until you see "Avatar URL". Copy the url of the picture and paste it here.
The two boxes below enable you to adjust the size. The maximum width and height being 100 pixels.
Finally, click on the "Modify Profile" button at the bottom of the page to store the changes.
Good luck!
Roger

Hi Roger Here lies the problem - how do I host the picture? Thereafter it is easy. At the moment I only have the picture stored in my documents folder.

Hi Martin Andrew and everyone, For anyone not privy to the contents of Andrew's private message you can see how to host your own photos (for posting in messages) in the How to Post Photos thread here - section 2 paragraphs 1 and 2. Although it doesn't specifically mention avatars, the link you end up with can be used to post a photo in a message OR for an avatar. Reading through Section 1 of that thread first may help anyone unfamiliar with posting photos generally. Perhaps we need to add an avatar section to that thread? Cheers, Dave

Hi Geralynn,
And as if by magic, your avatar appears! I was already hosting that picture so it seemed easier if I just added it to your profile. If that is not the one you wanted, send me a PM and I can change it.
If you would still like to know how it is done, I am sure it is described somewhere on this forum. I will try to find it for you and add the link to this thread.
Roger

Hi Geralyyn, it's me again! There is a post HERE in which Dave describes how to post pictures to the forum. Once you are hosting an image, you merely copy its url and paste it into your profile. If you wish to have a go, please feel free to change the one I have just added to your profile. Roger
