In the morning of the concert I went to the Omaka Airfield museum where there are World war One biplanes and triplanes on display. Some of them are owned by Peter Jackson (our famous movie director). I then had lunch at what I thought was our concert venue, I had roast pork and a nice glass of wine. Imagine my surprise when I went to the venue later there was no sign of a concert. I quickly found out there was another Brancott Estate on Brancroft Road near the airportso I had to rush there. All of the other gang were already there right at the front of the queue. It was a lovely hot afternoon in a beautiful setting and the concert didn't start until 7pm.The security were much stricter tonight as Stuart found out later so I was very lucky to video a few songs. Glad to see someone else had videoed the concert for you. Doesn't look like there was any of the Westenra family at this concert. The crowd was around 2000 and they enjoyed the concert. Hayley really loved having the little kids at the front of the crowd. After the concert I said my goodbyes to Hayley and the rest. Today I am going to Picton for 2 days, I hope to do some fishing and a ride in the mail boat that goes around the sounds. So it will be a few days before I can post some more pictures.

Hi Ross and thanks for your report. Lucky you discovered the correct venue in time! What a disaster that could have been! So you had 'camera police' to attend to! We know all about them in the UK! Enjoy the rest of your holiday - the mailboat sounds like fun, but I hope there are some girls too! I'm looking forward to your pictures and the other reports from this concert. Best wishes Grant

Well actually Joe........ They did!!!!! Cameras were allowed - but small cameras and not professional ones. The problem was that I had taken two short video clips on my camera and at the interval the (very) heavies came over and took it away - telling me I could not use any camera for the rest of the evening. I did protest later on and explained why I was photographing and they relented. When my other camera was returned they had formatted the memory card!!!! Cheers guys!!!!!! Needless to say, the other HWI members here and other concert goers and Ian and Fiona were outraged at this "over the top" approach. Great concert though. We did a lot of promoting HWI so look out for some new members! I did get some good pictures to post when I get back to the UK. Belinda and I are sightseeing in Picton for a few days. Ross joined us today and we went on the mail ship which cruised the Charlotte Sound for 5 and a half hours. Weather is great here . Bye for now Stuart (and Belinda)

www.stuff.co.nz/marlboroughexpress/4408526a19819.htmlTreat of a performance Marlborough | Wednesday, 20 February 2008 DEREK FLYNN/The Marlborough Express ANGEL SONG: Hayley Westenra delights a Blenheim audience during a performance last night. Hayley Westenra and Dave Dobbyn Brancott Estate Blenheim, February 19 Reviewed by Lucy Johnston What a treat more than 1500 people were given with Hayley Westenra and Dave Dobbyn including Blenheim on their In Tune With Nature Vineyard tour last night. Gates opened at Brancott Estate at 5pm, and the keen among us were ready and waiting with picnic mats and camping chairs in tow. First on stage at 7pm was Dobbyn, singing some of his golden classics such as Language and Outlook for Thursday while the sun shone down upon toe-tapping crowds. To the crowd's delight a poised and polished Hayley soon joined him and together they sang Dobbyn's Beside You. "I'm so excited to be on stage with old Davey here," Hayley said. My favourite part of the show was folk violinist Fiona Pears' performance. Never have I seen violin playing look like so much fun. Fiona literally danced, with her long blond hair bouncing madly around, as she produced some of the most fantastic, beautiful music I have heard played. After the show I commented to Fiona how many little girls would be begging for violin lessons and she said she certainly hopes they will. Fiona composes a lot of her own music, gaining inspiration from her travels around the world and the people she meets who provide her with a taste of the spice of life. After Fiona's standing ovation, Hayley was back on stage. Her voice is absolutely amazing to hear live. Her perfect pitch, stunning range and beautiful lyrics wowed the audience, including her extended family and friends from Blenheim. Welcome Home, sung as a duo by two of New Zealand's finest voices, was magic. Dave cheekily used cue cards as he and Hayley sang Hine e Hine from Hayley's album Pure, which provided the audience with a bit of a giggle. The rolling hills and gorgeous Marlborough sun at Brancott Estate was the perfect backdrop for this relaxed summer evening concert. Everyone I talked to agreed the concert was top notch and some had travelled from as far as Christchurch and Wellington. Consummate professionals, Dave and Hayley appeared at home on stage. They were kind enough to chat to me before gates opened and both agreed their tour so far had been a blast. Neither of them had immediate family in the audience. Hayley said whenever her parents are at a concert she feels more nervous as her mother stands at the front with a camera and her father videos her performances. Both Hayley and Dave looked like they were born to perform on stage, neither showing a hint of nerves. They were, after all, at home, and it seemed they knew they were more than welcome

When my other camera was returned they had formatted the memory card!!!! That's disgraceful Stuart! Remind me to slip my flash card out of the camera when the heavies approach! Best wishes Grant

Hello Belinda,
Thanks for that. Does that mean that her family have stopped touring with her for the rest of the concert? That would be a shame. I thought her family being there gave the entire show an extra treat!

Hi Stu and Belinda, Sorry to hear about the Camera police, in over two years of going to concerts in the UK this has never happened to any of us that I know about - What a cheek, the power does go to some peoples heads! Glad you got the camera Back though Stu, did you loose any photos from earlier concerts? Steve H

When my other camera was returned they had formatted the memory card!!!! Hi Stuart, I am shocked... as Steve says, I have never heard of this happening before in four years of UK Hayley *and Il Divo* concerts! I think if they erased any images other than ones that you took at that concert, they may be open to challenge and reprimand (either legal - or trial by Media!). Disgraceful. However... all may not be lost but do not use that memory card again (or stop using it if you already have). There are freeware programs out there that can sometimes recover (unformat) images from camera memory cards - it all depends how they did the format. I won't say more now as you may already know this or you may already have heavily re-used the card but if you think there's still hope, keep it until you can find out more. Grrr!!!!!! at the Camera Gestapo No Cheers, Dave
