Hi Peter, I'm very sorry to hear that you can't make it. It is probably safer though. There will be plenty of other opportunities to see Hayley! Very best wishes from Paris, Stephany

Hi Peter, I'm very sorry to hear that you can't make it. It is probably safer though. There will be plenty of other opportunities to see Hayley! Very best wishes from Paris, Stephany How very kind of you Stephany. Thank you for your consolation. I am booked at Llangollen in three weeks or so when there is a chance the weather will have not only abated but been warm and dry long enough to dry the place out in time. I am also booked into Woburn and with so much reporting on the Shepherds' Bush Empire I am re-considering if I could sustain it. It sounds very exciting. Since at least one member will be staying in a hotel, presumably with internet links--aaah! But will they have a laptop as I have? I was just thinking, as I write with Treasure in my headphones, the show has started and in a couple of hours might be getting the first reports? it is like being on a Reuter's news desk, this forum at times. Hi All Just arrived home from Grassington. So I will give you a report of the evening and a few photos. We (George, Denise, Chris and Tracey) arrived in Grassington around 4 pm. It was a really quaint, beautiful old village. We were staying in a B & B in the village which was also beautiful. Chris and I decided to walk down to the marquee and as we approached we could hear the lads from Libera rehearsing. Thought we would take a look, thinking Hayley may also be there. Well, we were soon approached by a very stern lady who asked if she could help us. Just told her we were just nosing! She wasn't impressed and escorted us to the gate, even though we offered to go quietly! We asked if Hayley was there and were told she was not but somewhere on the M6. This was around 5 pm. We all returned at six to find Steve, Stuart and Gordon alreay there at the front of the queue. This was the initial queue to enter the grounds. Then another queue at the marquee once inside for the best seats. Here we are at the marquee tbc ......

We had seats in the centre but about five rows back. Sponsers had the front four rows reserved. Steve and Stuart were nearer but to one side. I would think they have some good shots from there although there was a warning that there should be no photography. I think you will find that a few were sneaked! My photos from the concert are not worth showing. I can say Hayley was wearing the green dress that she was wearing in Dublin recently. The first half was solely Libera. A group of fifteen lads. Very harmonious and they got a very good reception. A little too long for me and their songs seemed quite similar. Maybe it was too long for us to wait for Hayley! This was quite different to get to 9.15 pm before Hayley took to the stage. Along with Ian Tilley, Fiona Pears and Mischa Marks (guitar). Hayley sang the following ..
Ave Maria (Caccini) The Water Is Wide Scarborough Fair Shenandoah Santa Lucia Summer Fly May It Be In Trutina Prayer Pokarekare Ana Danny Boy (encore)
tbc .....

Hayley was wonderful as usual. A couple of comments were made by Hayley which altough justified was a little surprisingly out of character! The guitarist was constantly tuning his guitar after almost every song and continuing to do so whilst Hayley was talking. Hayley said something like - "hey you are spoiling the show" and "can I carry on speaking now". After the show everyone left very quickly. Only Steve, Stuart, Gordon, the four of us and Drew with his wife were left. There was no obvious place to meet Hayley so we went outside to the back of the stage area. Two young guys were the first line of defence. Denise asked if they could tell Hayley there was a small gathering from HWI to see her. They looked a little like Oh Yeah but one did go to see Hayley. His message was wait five minutes and she would be out - Result!! We were then asked to come through to the small marquee attached to were the artists would be and Hayley came out to see us all. Drew gave Hayley the rose he was wearing as he got his programme signed

One thing I forgot. We spoke afterwards about Sonny and that we would have liked to have heard her sing it. Hayley replied that it was lined up for the second encore but the applause was dying and the lights went up. I am sure HWI were still applauding but I think it was bed time for the locals!

Great report and pictures George. Looks like they haven't suffered from flooding up there.
Interesting to hear about Celtic Woman - not surprised though. Just hope the publicity is sorted and Hayley doesn't get any more bad press.
Best wishes Grant

Hi All, Well we are back, but it took seven hours as the A1 was closed to recover the remains of an earlier fatal accident. As no photographs were allowed here are some very good artists imressions of the evening
I will start with a breathtaking view from the marquee.
Hayley did indeed wear the green dress
Hayley with Fiona in the backgroundMore Later, I need a nap! Steve H

That bit is halfway up a hill! The village is further up. The problem with hills, Grant, is that in between them are valleys and it is there where the water gathers . What was the meadow land below like, George, pretty drenched? Earlier George said: I disagree entirely. To me her criticism of the guitarist is VERY MUCH IN Character, George. This is something where I think I have seemed somewhat at odds to several people here. This is a girl who can and will put her foot down when it matters. This is something I have always said about her. She’s got the grit to be masterful and in command when necessary and she will have things her way—it is her show. Conversely, when its someone else’s show, she will adapt to their requirements—hence the way she allowed us to get upset at the way Il Trivo appeared to treat her and the way there appeared inadequacies in CW management to her disadvantage. In both instances she was joining their set up and so she tolerated what we perceived as slights or second-hand treatment (even if she didn’t see it that way) because it was their show. When its hers, she’ll have her way as she wants and she’ll not hesitate to have it precisely as she wants. I’ve always said that strength and resolve is underneath the surface of that sweet delicacy that belies she’s fragile and vulnerable—in some ways she is, in many other ways that really matter, like hell she is. Now why? It was never intended to be longer? CW management played dirty with their UK publicity so she cut herself adrift? CW were panicking she was too good for them—after all, the reports from the States, including reports from the CW board itself, consistently said she ‘stood out’ from the group and although debating objectively the possibility it might be her inability to meld into the group, generally these reports concluded it was simply that her voice was so outstanding she could not help but stand out from the rest. Thank you guys for your reports. No! I'm not muddled! Just can't recall, wasn't Steve OR Stuart going to be there too? Peter S. PS. I recall my friend in the States saying at the beginning, 'why on earth is she losing herself in a group?' She needs personal exposure. Like Il Divo, perhaps it was always--and surely we here thought that was the case--simply another means to a broader, longer-term end?

Hi George Many thanks for your pics and report, the setting for this concert looks stunning Its a shame about the guitarist re- tuning between songs. I didn't mention this in my Porthcawl report yesterday, but he also re-tuned at least once during that performance whilst Hayley was talking. You're right, it was a little out of charactor for Hayley to say something publicly, but , as we know she likes things right and I suspect she was becoming quite annoyed I'm so pleased that you had some time with Hayley after the show - I noticed she had the same red flower in her hair - did she have on the same bright red shoes to match ? Thanks Steve for your few pics so far. We'll allow you a short nap after such a terrible journey. Best regards Mark.
