Hello again everybody! Mike Oldfield's 'Music of the Spheres' has dropped another two places to No.18 in this week's Classic FM Chart. Alison Balsom has a new entry at No.14 with her latest album which includes Trumpet Concertos by Haydn and Hummel. The Three Tenors have held on to the No.1 position for the third consecutive week. This effectively gives them a week each, but I expect Bryn Terfel will take over next Saturday. Watch this space. www.classicfm.co.uk/Article.asp?id=251563Richard

Hello everyone,
There is a heavy release schedule for UK classical crossover CDs over the next two months (including Hayley!) so I thought I'd do some updates as and when i find out how they are doing in the charts. If anyone (including me!) notices major classical crossover albums released or charting in the rest of the World, feel free to post the details in this thread.
In this week's pop chart, we have Will Martin "A New World" in at no. 21 and Bryn Terfel "Songs From The British Isles" at no. 32 (down from no. 16). These are the top two in the classical chart.
There is a new release this week by Blake "And So It Goes" which is in the first "midweek" chart based on Monday sales at no. 19 (two higher than Will was last week) but that could improve slightly. However, this Blake album might not qualify for the classical charts, unlike their debut "Blake". In the same midweek chart, Will has slipped to no. 33 and Bryn isn't in the top 40 but of course, that could change.

I predict Andrew Johnston will soon be No.1. He's already No.4 on the Tesco Artists Chart (behind Will Young!!)

I predict Andrew Johnston will soon be No.1. Hi Jeff, if you are referring to the classical charts, probably not. It looks like there are too many pop songs on the album and also, Simon Cowell has a habit of using synthesisers on a lot of the music his reality show stars do, which would stop even a classical song from being counted as classical. For example, Paul Potts didn't count as classical in the UK. If you meant no. 1 in the pop chart, it entered at no. 4 in the official album chart and looks like it will drop a few places this week. Cheers, Dave

Hello again everybody! Mike Oldfield's 'Music of the Spheres' has dropped another four places to No.28 in this week's Classic FM Chart. I tend to ignore compilations, but I will report that 'Classic FM - Feel Good' is a new entry at No.10. This double CD includes Hayley's 'Pokarekare Ana'. Finally, some really good news specially for Stephany. Will Martin is still at No.1 for the second week with 'A New World'. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifwww.classicfm.co.uk/Article.asp?id=251563Richard

There's even better news this week, although I cannot accurately predict the exact positions in Saturday's Classic FM Chart. In the Classical Artist Chart, Pure is back! It's a re-entry at no. 12 and I wonder if that new compilation you mentioned has anything to do with it? This is the first time since March that any official Hayley CD has been in one of the UK charts and as Pure has been nowhere near that high at Amazon UK, it looks like one or more of the Supermarkets or Woolworths has got it back in stock, or perhaps the smaller HMV shops (who may have been out of stock). Has anyone seen it anywhere as I do not know which version it is. I've noticed that the catalogue number is that of the original 13 track edition of Pure which was officially deleted. Music Week have been known to make errors, so I need to check this if I can. Incidentally, Celtic Treasure finally made a graceful exit from the US Classical Crossover Chart (Top 25) on 20 September this year, after 76 consecutive weeks in the chart. It was a good run! Cheers, Dave

They also have one each of Odyssey S/E and Treasure. All three have mysteriously been moved to the front of the rack. Now, I wonder howe that happened! Roger

Hello Dave and Roger! That reminds me, 'Pure' is currently on sale at Zavvi for £7. When I looked in the Oxford Street branch on Wednesday evening, there were two copies of the bonus CD edition and one of the original UK version, all at the same price. Richard

Stephany is now seeing double in the mirror because she's beside herself with excitement! Thank you Richard for the excellent news. I just drank a couple of glasses of wine so I think I'm actually seeing triple! Love Stephany

Hi Richard and Stephany and everyone!
There's more good news for Hayley this week because here is the top 6 in the new UK Classical Artist chart (sorry about Will, Stephany!)
1. (02) Bryn Terfel - Songs From The British Isles 2. (01) Will Martin - A New World 3. (11) Hayley Westenra - Pure 4. (03) Blake - Blake 5. (04) Katherine Jenkins - Living A Dream 6. (RE) Libera - New Dawn
Great to see Hayley selling well then - on such an old album! I still can't find out which big store is widely stocking Pure, and which version (probably a Supermarket or Woolworths rather than HMV or Zavvi, who may always stock it).
So Bryn gets back to no. 1 but what a battle with Will!
And Joe, look who's back in the chart at no. 6!

Thanks Dave, for this good news. "Pure" is still doing exceptionally well for a recording released five years ago!
Pleased to see Libera doing well...they are involved in some upcoming movie soundtracks and TV specials right up to the end of the year.
