Hi Prairiemain, Welcome from the North East of England. The Forum is rather quiet tonight as quite a few members are at a Hayley concert in Belfast. Lucky them !!! You will see in the next couple of days as they get home and have time to post reviews and photo's just what a great time they will have had. Yes Hayley's voice is something special and it sounds better live ! Captivating. Best Wishes, Graham

Hello Prairiemain,
Welcome to the Forum,
I recognized your user name from Connie's forum, you will enjoy it here too - it's a very friendly place to hang out!
The fellowship is something I can not describe, I have made some life long friends here, I hope you get to see Hayley in person when she next goes to the States
Kind Regards
Steve H

Thank you for the warm welcome, Martin. I'm from the United States (North Carolina). I don't think Hayley Westenra is that well known here, at least in my neck of the woods. That will certainly change. She does have one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard. Hi Parairemain, Never been to North Carolina, but I was over in San Francisco a couple of months ago ( I realise this is a long way from you) Yes I agree, the first time I ever heard Hayley was a live performance four years ago when she was 16, and I was in tears within seconds. I have never heard another singer like her. Three weeks ago I was at the concert in Buxton, Derbyshire. You will find the reports and superb photos taken by various members on this site under "Hayley in Concert". I have to say that I don't think I have ever enjoyed a concert so much in my life! Hayley was awesome, and her records and DVDs still don't come close to what she is like live, but for those who have experienced it, they remind us. The records capture her beautiful voice perhaps, but not her powerful stage presence, It is only at live performances, and if like me you get the chance to meet her afterwards, that you realise that her beautiful voice is a manifestation of a beautiful person. The emotional vibes that fly around at her concerts are amazing. Perhaps one day you will get to experience it yourself. Martin

Welcome prairiemain!
I also hope that Hayley will visit America sometime this year!
You may be lucky to find Hayley's CD's in Borders Books.
Best wishes from Pennsylvania!

I''ve found some of you HWI members to be somewhat friendly at Hayley's Concerts (you know who you are) ;but I cannot help but feel like somewhat as an outsider on the HWI website. I've travelled fom the U S twice to see Hayley in the last six months and have been thrilled to be treated warmly by Hayley, her Mum and others in her enterouage. i.e. Ray and Nicola. However, and I hope I'm incorrect I, feel that I cannot get into the loop with the U K members. I really like to be with you folks, and I realize that I'm a neophyte in the group; but I feel liked an outsider when I try to communicate on the forum. I'm really a nice guy and I adore Hayley-I have a BS in marketing and an MBA a in management and although I'm from the U S I'm not an unsoficated person. I'm not trying to be sarcastic; however I feel I've not been accepted.in your group.l
Larry Hello Larry and welcome to the Forum! I put your post here in the "Welcome" topic...because your post didn't have anything to do with the topic of birthday display errors. Please don't feel like an outsider here. We all have come together to learn about Hayley's voice. I've only ever met three members here, and I've only been to one Hayley concert. However I don't consider myself an outsider. Once you get familiar with everyone here, it will seem as it they are as close as across the street, not across the ocean! Best wishes from Pennsylvania, Joe

Wow, thank you so much for the warm welcome! I will love it here, I'm certain.
I'm just discovering Hayley so I'm behind the rest of you. I plan to review as many of the previous posts as I can to come up to speed so my participation may be limited for a day or two.
I would love to hear Hayley at a live concert. I'm sure that must be an incredibly moving and uplifting experience. Until that opportunity presents itself, I will content myself with Hayley's CDs. I don't have adequate words but the videos I've watched so far are absolutely beautiful.
I'm going to enjoy this adventure in discovery. Clearly, Hayley Westenra is one of the most beautiful singing voices of all time.

Hello Prairiemain, and welcome to our forum! I'm sure you will enjoy catching up with Hayley's outstanding career here. For a deeper insight into her personality, you must read about her involvement with UNICEF and the Raukatauri Music Therapy Centre on the 'Hayley's Charity Work' board HERE. You will be amazed! Best wishes from London, Richard

Hi Larry I'm sorry that you feel like an outsider here and I'm sure it's not the intention of anyone here to make you feel so. We get to know each other by communicating on the forum, so that when we meet new faces for the first time we feel that we already know each other. I think you've had some problems logging on to the forum recently so haven't been able to post much. I'm sure that once you start posting more regularly, you will find that these little friendships develop quite quickly. Another point to bear in mind is that at some of these concerts, we are quite a large group with very little time to catch up with each other and with Hayley thus we sometimes rely on new faces pushing themselves forward. A case in point was at Croydon last month, where you stayed inside with the stage doorman whilst everyone of us enjoyed each others company outside. Best wishes Grant

Hi Larry,
I am so sorry that you feel you have not been accepted into the group. As Grant has mentioned, you have experience difficulty in logging in but I did reply to the two enquiries you made under your previous account. It is also true that, in order for us to be able to extend the hand of friendship, it is necessary for you to introduce yourself to us by making a few posts. Now you appear to be able to log in, I trust we will have tthe opportunity to make amends.
Best wishes, Roger

Hi Larry,
We met and spoke briefly before the concert at the bar in Dublin's National Concert Hall,
You did seem surprised that we had recognised you from a previous concert photo , perhaps Buxton !
I looked for you after the concert at the signing with Hayley and you had done a complete Houdini and disappeared !
I have just looked through all the photos in the Dublin thread taken on the night and I can't see you in any of the after concert photos where you would have been made most welcome and could have joined the rest of us in the Conrad Hotel for a few drinks after the concert as you can see almost all of the HWI members did.
Best wishes from Dublin

Hi Larry,
This time last year, I was new to the forum (a bit smaller then).
Ever since, I've felt more than welcome (and I'm not from the UK).
Even when my posts might be a little strange, not one impolite word did I read.
At my first Hayley concert in the NCH in June, I did feel a bit lost at first.
But when I met Hayley and some other members after the show, I felt I was in the right place.
At each of the other concerts I've attended, I've met nothing but friendly faces.
So, you're welcome - give it time, post a bit and hang around after the next Hayley concert you go to.
You'll find you're among friends - as I did.
Paddy

Hi Larry, I think we briefly met at Buxton. It was our first concert and we were 'feeling our way' as well and trying to put faces to names etc. I think the secret is, as my Grandfather used to say is 'muck in with everyone' Loosely 'translated' in this context it means; post on the forum and join in. When at concert gatherings, circulate and chat to as many people as possible, whilst moving on to let them also circulate. We all come from different backgrounds but in a Hayley context it doesn't matter as we all have a common bond that brings us together 'Hayley'. I only joined last November and felt very nervous at first. What happens if I say something silly or ask a silly question etc. I have, but others realise it and put you straight, the trick is not to let it put you off.
Hope you will join in.
Graham

Graham I agree totally with what Graham says. I joined last August although my love of Hayley's music goes back a lot further than that. Larry, I think I might have met you at Buxton, but I met so many people there who I knew only from this forum, and it was my first time with HWI as well.. It was a bit overwhelming, trying to match all the names to faces. Some, like Grant and Stephany, I recognised immediately, but others in rapid succession, I probably still can''t sort out and if you are one of them I can only apologise. I had not meant to be unfriendly, I was just trying to take in a lot of people in a short time. I know some others were keen to catch up with old friends, so I can understand why it might feel the way you describe it. For the most part, I only got a few words with our more prominent members, who seemed very busy, but I know from my discussions with them on the forum that this is not unfriendliness. I spent most of my time talking to other first timers, like myself. What I do know is that I liked everyone I got to talk to. I think Hayley seems to attract the sort of people I like, those who appreciate true beauty. So stick with it! Particularly if you post here, you will soon make friends. Martin
