Yesterday Laura sang Abide With Me for Soccer Aid. It was a beautiful performance. Nothing remarkable in that Laura always gives a good performance. What was remarkable was that you could hear the whole song without her being over talked by the commentator. Darren Hughes (dazza) recorded it and you can see and hear it here on Laura's forum.

I hope this is setting a new trend for artists performing at sports events.

I got my copy of Laura's new album today. I think it's excellent it's been getting me through revision today, I'm giving Paradiso a bit of a rest as I've been playing it continuously throughout my revision for the past 3-4 weeks lol!..
On this album I particularly like I vow to thee my country and I like Benedictus too, although I think Hayley's version is my favourite. I'd definitely recommend this album :)

best wishes
Sing ;)

Hi Sing,

I love this album too especially benedictus, its arranged differently to Hayleys and Laura does a great job. So many good songs and Laura's voice is sounding great!!

I like Benedictus. The cello is included!

That's about it though. :/ No energy or passion - she just sounds bored to me. :( I said I wouldn't buy this album, but I wanted to give her another try! She was among my favourite vocalists for a long time - old habits die hard! XD

Have listened to her album a bit more. I've written a mixed-negative review on amazon. Unlike her debut, I see the value in 'Glorious'. In my opinion, if she sticks to choral repertoire, I think she can make amazing albums. I really enjoyed the reboot of Sanctus, and as I have already said, Benedictus was just amazing for her. Really suitable.

Hi Nicola,

I was wondering if that was your review, I commented on it! I sort of see what you mean, but at the same time i just love her voice so much she has a lovely tone. I'd say that she does know how to use her voice and she does put some emotion into some songs. However, I thought your review was fair, we'll just have to disagree on some parts as you said in your comment!

Hi Nicola Richard and all,

Yes, an impressive image indeed! :D

But in my opinion, it's photoshopped, there a few clues on there if you brighten and enlarge it. They seem to have missed a couple of things. ;)

Cheers, Dave

Yes, totally British. I'll look out for lions next time I take dog for a walk! :)

We have to be careful with our endemic wildlife!

Laura has dropped out of the album charts this week. :( I think she has sold about 4,000 copies of this album so far, so probably 20-25k in total as a solo artist.

I hope she stays for another album - I want to see her developed in the right direction.

Hello Nicola! [image]

Laura is still at No.2 in this week's Classical Artists Albums Chart with 'Glorious'. I'm sure the album will be in that chart for a few more months. :)

With all due respect, the classical albums chart means next to nothing. There are some weeks when you only need to sell a couple of hundred to top it. :(

Sorry, I know you were only trying to be positive, <3, but chart positions don't mean much when they don't translate to sales. This album is selling really poorly, especially with all the exposure she has been getting. Mary-Jess's album did just as well as this one and she wasn't even on supermarket shelves, wasn't on the classical chart and didn't receive 10% of the promotion Laura got. :/ It's just not taking off for Laura, in my opinion.

Hi everyone,

Just found this on the classicfm site

http://www.classicfm.com/artists/laura-w....lassical-award/

well done Laura!

I think it's a shame this album isn't selling particularly well because I think it is a very good album which a lot of people should enjoy hopefully it will do well, and she'll be able to record more...

best wishes
Sing ;)
