I am on such a high. If Bristol was fantastic (which it was) then Birmingham was out of this world!! What a wonderful day I had from the beginning to the very end.
Met Arty for a quick cuppa before we headed for Weatherspoons! Great meet up and really good fun. Thanks to everyone that came and it was lovely to meet you all. The biggest surprise was when Angela walked in with Christine (Rhyd’s music teacher) and a neighbour of theirs. I was absolutely gobsmacked. Thank you so much for popping in Angela - we all really appreciated it so much. At Symphony Hall we met up with Edna and John (you looked so lovely Edna and I love your hair), Pauline and Rattie. Lots of others in the theatre and sorry if I don’t name you all but it was great meeting everyone. Had a perfect view - 3 rows from the front but I felt right on top of the stage. I was so excited I thought I was going to burst and when the music started, the curtains came down and Rhyd turned to face us my heart nearly jumped out of my body. I think I shook from head to toe with emotion - I’m a soppy so and so I really am!! He looked as gorgeous as ever, he really put everything into his performance and then some and you could tell he was so pleased to be in Birmingham. The acoustics were outstanding - perfect for Rhyd’s voice. Very powerful rendition of NADEITH complete with rose. I really felt he meant every word and I was captivated and mesmerised by his performance. He told us he graduated on that very stage and of course we all cheered. The Living Tree was lovely as always, Myfanwy dissolved me to tears again. Music of the Night was spellbinding. He lived the part and we lived it with him. He then announced Haley which caused great excitement around the Hall. I love “All I Ask of You” and it was emtional and beautifully sung and they both performed their hearts out. When he kissed her I think every female there wished it was her and probably had “lucky girl” going through their heads!!!! It was a beautiful duet and we were so lucky to see her perform. She then sang a song from her native country whilst Rhyd got changed. MaCarthurs Park was a blast - he rocked, his dancing was awesome and there were thrusts!!! Suddenly the Hall got very hot!!! Heroes - WOW. I was on my feet dancing and screamed at the thrusts!!! I hope no-one got a vid of me dancing this time!!! Get the Party Started got us on our feet and there was interaction with the audience as usual. Impossible Dream was the highlight for me. He had a mad dash to the back of the Hall and sang it as he walked down the aisleway. The next thing he turned and started walking along the row behind me. I was within touching distance and all I did was stand there, wide-eyed, catching flies!!! I nearly died with shock. Again he sang his heart out - the best I’ve heard I think and worth the standing ovation he got. Last song was “Somewhere” (he had sung the new one quite early on) and yet another standing ovation. He seemed so overwhelmed by the reception he got - Birmingham loved him and they showed it.
Went to the gates at the end and even though he was tired he came out at the end of the concert to meet us all. Words cannot express how wonderful he is for doing that. He recognised me and this voice from behind (my friend’s husband) screamed out “Give her a kiss as its her birthday”. Needless to say my face was as red as my t-shirt!! He did wish me happy birthday and I had a quick chat with him and he offered me his cheek so I gave him a kiss through the gates!! Made my night!! Angela came over and talked to us - who took a photo of Angela and I as I would love a copy. It was so lovely to see her and have a chat and yes Angela it was a very special birthday. Talked to a lovely lady at the end - I hope she joins the site as she did take the website address down. We waved the coach off and then it was back to the hotel and to the bar with Arty to put the worlds to right. I drove home and I crawled into bed at 2am, tired, very happy AND UNABLE TO SLEEP!! Today I have survived on 3 hours sleep, 6 pints of coffee and I look rough and I feel rough!!!
I have to say it was the best birthday I’ve had for a long time - I enjoyed every second of the show - Rhyd just gets better and better and better. I can’t think of enough words to describe how brilliant he was. I wish I was now going to Cardiff as that one will rock to!! "
Thank you Brummiebee for your great report....Graeme PS there are 3 excellent pics on that post of Hayley & Rhydian duetting.

Hi,
I read on another fan forum that Rhydian's fans have heard that Hayley will be singing with Rhydian in Cardiff on 21 May (yesterday -- I think (?) UK time confuses me).

Hi,
According to Rhydian's forum, it seems that Hayley did make an appearance at Cardiff and they sang 'All I Ask of You' again.

Hayley Westenraa’s appearance was a lovely surprise and Rhydian’s rich and powerful voice combined with the purity of hers during their “Phantom” duet was magical.

Hi,
Well, I certainly think that Rhydian's fan club have the right idea! I remember reading that a few members said that a Hayley cardboard cut out would be useful for photos... I'm sorry to say that the Rhydian fans beat you to it!
Thanks for the news of the Cardiff concert, Jillian.
When we learned of the Birmingham event, I asked Bedlam Management if there would be any other surprise appearances. Regrettably, I have not heard back from them. I am sorry if anyone would have tried to go but there is nothing I can do unless Bedlam respond.

Hi Rhydian fan here. I just wanted to say that Hayley was singing at Rhydian's concert at the CIA in Cardiff last night, she sang the duet, I believe the same as in Birmingham and her solo song. Everyone there was thrilled and she got a well-deserved great reception by the capacity audience of over 7,000. It is lovely that Hayley has taken the time out of her no doubt busy schedule and the long journeys upon herself to give Rhydian support at the two venues that probably mean the most to him, Birmingham where he studied and Cardiff, his 'home' - and this is especially noteworthy as she is apparently flying home today or tomorrow, I assume to New Zealand. Sadly no video as yet, and they were again very strict about filming so I am not too hopeful - but there are some wonderful photos on Rhydian's official site taken by Pepper, post #2: http://www.rhydianroberts.com/forum/viewthread/12608/
Maybe Comet can ask Pepper per PM if he could post them here. She is certain to say yes.

Hi,
There's also a great little description of Hayley at another forum by a member called Clorinda.

A few minutes later he was introducing Hayley Westernra and what a lovely talented young woman she is. Their duet was one of the most beautiful performances of a male and female artist that I can ever remember seeing. Her voice is sweet and crystal clear and as it intermingled with Rhydian's warm rich baritone notes, a beautiful musical tapestry was created. I hope I shall see them together many times in the future.

I'm very pleased to hear that you enjoyed Hayley's duet with Rhydian, but I think you may have misunderstood about her flying home as she is in concert in Glasgow on Saturday and Leamington Spa the following Friday!
She may have said she was flying to Glasgow or 'flying' (i.e. hurrying) home to get ready for her concert. Who know's with Hayley - busy, busy, busy!!

Hi Enzian,
Wow, the quality of that video is perfect! I bet featherstar went to a lot of trouble to get that footage. They sang beautifully. Thanks for posting.
If you like Hayley's voice, you should really start delving into the 'Hayley in Concert' area of our forum -- there's tonnes of amazing videos and photos. If there's anything in particular you're looking for, just ask -- we're a friendly bunch.
