« Thread Started on Nov 30, 2011, 2:27pm »

Hi everyone,

UPDATE: Hayley has confirmed on Saturday 3rd December that she will be taking part in the 2011 Royal Variety Performance.

This year's Royal Variety Performance will be held in Manchester (specifically Salford, The Lyric Theatre at The Lowry) on December 5th and it will broadcast in the UK on ITV1 on Wednesday 14th December. Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal and Vice-Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, KCVO, CB, ADC(P) will attend the performance.

Several excellent singers and other acts have already been announced: Tony Bennett, Barry Manilow, Jai McDowall and Tim Minchin (among others) and the ITV website adds: "as well as a number of sensational surprises." The official RVP website confirms that more performers have yet to be announced.

Details are on the ITV website - also the RVP website and The Lowry website - highlights below.

Tony Bennett and Barry Manilow, two of the world’s biggest music superstars, will jet in especially for the Royal Variety Performance to give a one night only performance.

US X Factor judge and former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger and US singer songwriter Cee Lo Green take centre stage and light up this year’s Royal Variety Performance.

The star studded spectacular will take place on 5 December and be screened on ITV1 later that month. It will be produced by ITV Studios.

Laurie Mansfield, Life President of the Entertainment Artistes’ Benevolent Fund and one of the West End’s leading theatre producers, said: “I’m delighted and honoured that the Royal Family has remained hugely supportive of this show. This is an exciting year as it marks the first year of a new exclusive 10 year deal with ITV and I look forward to working closely together.”

“The greatest artistes in entertainment have always featured on The Royal Variety Performance and this year is no exception as the biggest acts in the world unite for one night only. There is something for everyone – a true Royal Variety Performance.”

The Manchester production continues ITV’s tradition of staging the Royal Variety Performance in cities and towns outside London. Previous shows have been hosted in Blackpool, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Liverpool.

As is customary, the event is staged in aid of the Entertainment Artistes’ Benevolent Fund. The money will help maintain Brinsworth House in Twickenham, Middlesex – the entertainers’ retirement and nursing home which is run by the EABF.

The 2011 Royal Variety Performance is commissioned by ITV’s Controller of Entertainment John Kaye Cooper and executive produced by ITV Studios’ Lee Connolly and Fiona Clark.

In the best case scenario, it would require moving this thread out of "Other Music". [image]

Sorry for the double post but

In 2003, Hayley performed Porakarakara Ana and Amazing Grace at the Royal variety show in front of the Queen of England. It was a huge career move for a fourteen-year-old. Here, from ITV3, is Hayley looking back at her amazing experience of this magnificent performance.
Courtesy of Hayley's Realm...

Is this the same performance? So it's no big deal really to perform in this? coz she has been in it once already?

Hi Simba,

This was a previous RVP. It was a long time ago. Hayley is much older now, and very different.

The fact that she was in it years ago is niether here nor there. I doubt many will remember it. And it IS televised all over the world, and it IS very good exposure for Hayley. Hopefully, she will sing something from Paradiso.

Just a bit of background information, The Royal Variety Performance is presented annually in aid of the Entertainment Artistes' Benevolent Fund (the EABF). The EABF cares for hundreds of entertainers throughout the UK who need help and assistance as a result of old age, ill-health, or hard times, and Brinsworth House, in Twickenham, Middlesex, is the Fund's dedicated nursing home, caring for elderly members of the entertainment profession.

Artists give their time free to perform in this charitable show each year which is always attended by members of the Royal family.

Well, I don't know. 150 million is rather less than the population of India I think. Although that might refer to the number of people expected to watch it, rather than the total population of the countries where it will be shown. But "keep your eyes wide the chance won't come again" you never know.

Oh, I love quoting sing lyrics! :D

To make a small correction, Hayley was sixteen at the time, not fourteen. ;)

Hi Rodders
But she is back in the UK! Her tweet on Thursday confirmed that fact. Her Taiwan concerts do not start until the 14th Dec.
