Hello Grant and Stephany! I agree an animated DVD would be wonderful, but they must show Hayley while she is singing. She could be in the bottom right hand quarter of the screen during the short excerpts of the song, then fill the screen when she sings the whole song at the end. Best Wishes, Richard

Thank you for your 'Music from the Movies' review of 'Different Voices', Richard.
I agree with every aspect of this review. It expresses itself far better than did I in mine. It is interesting they feel as I did that this was really a work 'in course of finalisation'. It is probably a matter of costs involved and 'getting something going' to prove its worth for future funding.
There are aspects in which I feel an opportunity was lost to bring out the more subtle aspects of orchestral arrangements and sounds, such as differentiating the oboe and clarinet where there is often a closeness of sound and to illustrate the difference between a plucked and hammered string as in comparing the higher notes of the piano with the harp but as I said in my review, it depends what age you are aiming at and how far it is possible to go without overloading.
The summation of the review seems to be 'a work in progress' and that is how I think it should be viewed. This is a wonderful work but to be really effective and to make the most of the wonderful content it needs some tweaking within its collective whole to turn 'excellent' into 'superb', in which case I would think there is great commercial potential--many variations from the theme for different markets.
By the way, in some other thread recently there has been discussion about Hayley effectively renouncing opera (for the time being) and the strength of her voice. While the jury may still be out on the sustainability of her strength, she really let go at Cadogan Hall in 'Different Voices' and showed she does have a strength we don't usually see and she was not by any means at her limit. However, I have had the opportunity (okay over a several weeks gap) of hearing Kiri singing in that hall unmiked (as was Hayley here, the mike being for the recording) and sustaining that strength of volume may be pushing her too much... for the moment.
But I am comparing a young girl starting out on her career with a mature woman with forty years of experience behind her. To be able to make that comparison says a lot for Hayley. What I love more and more, as time enables me to look back over the last few years, is to realise I have been able to hear that development of her voice. It is still developiong and it is still as enthralling for what is there and also for what one feels is yet to come.
