Oh, and don't forget that she said "if all goes well, will be back" ? Yes, she did say that! She didn't say when or what that might be, but obviously she can't come back at the moment. I just wish I knew what they go by as far as how "well" things have to go. Does being in the top 2 on Amazon's classical charts count for anything, even if it was only for a day or so?

I realized the colors on the album cover of the US release are a little darker than on the NZ version. The NZ colors look a bit pale in comparison. Only slightly, though. Anyone else notice any difference? How about the UK version?

Not that it's all that important, though. Just noticed. ;)

Hi Libby,

Yes, the colors are quite darker on the US release. Also. look at the front facing spine. The word "Parasdiso" faces to the right; on the NZ version, it faces to the left (NZ).

Hi Libby. I certainly would not wish to dampen your enthusiasm and of course I write with no greater factual knowledge than anyone else here but I think you have to interpret the remarks you quote as having been an immediate response to a live interview. A need to respond positively on the spur of the moment yet without actual commitment.

I think you're probably right in regards to the Fox interview. But if Hayley really thought she was never going to come, why would she even say yes at all? It seems to imply that a US tour is at least possible in the near future. Why would she want to lead us on like that, if there were no truth at all to it?

Then in the Pollstar interview, although she does say there are no plans at the moment, she also says she's "looking forward" to coming. Now, if there were no chance of her ever coming here, ever, ever again, as several negative people seem to think, why would she say such a thing? Does she purposely want to lead us on? If it was so impossible and unlikely that she'll ever come back again (and she was just here, incidentally), then she would not be looking forward to coming back.

Yes, you did dampen my enthusiasm a bit, but not for long. I refuse to get all depressed and pessimistic, like some others do here.

Oh dear Libby! You are on a roller coaster ride--I think you call them 'Big Dippers' over there--dashing from one extreme to the other. I'm sure she will be out there again but bearing in mind the vastness of the States, will it be short or long and near enough to you to be able to make it, rather than a serious pan-America tour?

That in effect was all that I was saying. That decision determines the time-scale of when. As I said, I was positing a theory from the point of view of promotional and demand on Hayley's voice, logistics, that was all.

Yes, I certainly hope she comes somewhere near me if she ever does some concerts. I would at least hope she'd come to California. I would definitely make an effort to go to that if it was the only thing. Also, British Columbia, Canada would be a possibility for me.

Umm, last I heard, the Big Dipper was in the solar system somewhere. Where did you ever hear of that? I certainly never did. I have, however, heard of rollercoaster rides. I've even been on one before. Only a little-kiddy one, though, when I was a little kid, but I couldn't take it, and I have no desire to ever ride one again! [image]

Hello Libby and Peter!

*cue music*

"There's only one Big Dipper" :D

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Dipper_%28Blackpool%29 and that's at Blackpool Pleasure beach, I have happy memories of it as a child! There used to be a similar roller-coaster at Belle Vue Manchester (now closed) and that one was called the Bobs, it was nearer my childhood home, so I went on it more often. http://manchesterhistory.net/bellevue/TheBobs.html I loved those old wooden ones!

Back on topic, I'll just mention Richard's post in the Official Charts thread, sadly Paradiso failed to enter the Billboard 200 this week, remaining at no. 7 in the classical chart. As only the top three this week are in the Billboard 200, I think it is very unlikely now that Paradiso will enter that chart, sadly.

Cheers, Dave

Most informative Dave. Thank you. Too much for me nowadays and I do feel the modern stressed steel construction safer although I can understand the nostalgia for the wooden originals but I suspect maintenance is expensive. The Blackpool one wasn't open when I visited after Llandudno.

Back on topic, this is very disappointing but... but... Maybe it is not essential and experience with Katherine Jenkins' odyssey will show whether it is economically feasible for Hayley to launch a blitz on the place, celebrating her ten years with a concert array across those years. It will be interesting to see if an orchestra accompanies her elsewhere after March (and where?).

They certainly listen to Andrea Bocelli, he is massive in the US - as we will see once again next month when his new album/DVD One Night in Central Park is released http://www.amazon.com/Concerto-One-Night....tt_mus_dp_dpt_1 .

Lots of classical and Italian in there... ;)

Cheers, Dave

Well, then maybe Hayley and Andrea should tour across the U.S. next time instead of across Europe or Asia or wherever it was they toured recently. Pardon, but I really can't remember where they performed :P

Now that is an interesting thought, harking back on my post regarding, what follows UK spring concerts and what chance an orchestra? A link with Andre Rieu across the States?

Andrea didn't have a very big tour. Only a few cities in a few places. Hayley performed with him in Taiwan and China in May.

Go to your profile page, and look at your most recent posts. If that post is there, you can click it and see what thread it's in. Maybe somebody moved it? Or maybe you forgot to press Post reply? I've done that before.

I have compared the iTunes version of Paradiso with the CD and I have to say that the CD is scandalously better than the downloaded album. The difference in quality is HUGE. Every track on the CD sounds full and radiant. The iTunes versions are noticeably weaker and don't capture Hayley's voice all the way, making her high, sustained notes seem scratchy.

If all you have is the downloads then enjoy it all you can. But if there's a choice available, DO get the CD.

Yeah, iTunes really shouldn't have done that. I downloaded a couple of the songs before buying the CD, and the difference is, as you say, "HUGE"!
