I just dont get the problem Roger. At worst, what you are saying is that 75 percent of the people on this site (give or take) approve (or dont dissapprove) of the project. Many of those people are on record as saying that it is only the project they dont like - not the fact of Hayley's participation per se.

I would have thought that only 75% in favour was a pretty worrying result when we have always been 100% in favour of everything she has done in the past.

Talking of which, HWI has been criticized in the past for being unduly biased in favour of everything she does. Now, when some of us are far from happy about it, we get shot down in flames for saying so. So tell me, just what are we allowed to say on this forum?

Going back to your first point, the room in which she has to manouever is not narrow at all. It is vast without having to resort to distasteful projects like this.

Roger

Hi Roger,

Speaking personally I have not been in favor of everything Hayley has done - and I think she should have done some things she hasnt done. The issue you are raising is a straw man because to my knowledge there have been no comparible polls asking this kind of question before.

Would 100 percent of the people on the site agree that the time Hayley spent in the US in 2005 was well spent? What about the decision to cancel most of that tour? How about the time she spent on the Celtic Woman tour? How about the decision to postpone the next international album? At the time that it happened would 100 percent of the site agree that she should relocate to Britain?

None of these questions and hundreds of others like them were asked at the time. If they had been, you would find a wide spread of opinion.

Jon

Nothing in life is perfect - and I thank God for that. When we say that something is perfect we are also saying that there can be no growth because any change must be for the worse. In the end, it is our errors which declare and affirm our humanity.

For example - suppose we asked a question like "Was the time Hayley spent in the US in 2005 a good career move"?. I would very surprised if there was 100 percent consensus.

Jon

I also believe there was divided opinion concerning the tour with Celtic Woman. Some thought it would enhance her profile Stateside, while others were concerned that it might negatively affect her solo career.

It appears to me that there are two key unanswered questions here that would substantiate the arguments either for and against. They are:

1) Was Hayley invited by Debbie Wiseman alone to participate in the recording of the soundtrack?
2) Was Hayley aware of either the film's content or title at the time of accepting the offer ?

Without these answers I do not think that any of us can make an appropriate judgement..

Hi Martin,

To be honest, I have little interest in the answers to those two questions.

So, typically Irish, I'll 'answer' the questions with further questions:

1) Was Hayley invited by Debbie Wiseman alone to participate in the recording of the soundtrack?

..... What! Has Hayley done something wrong?

2) Was Hayley aware of either the film's content or title at the time of accepting the offer ?

..... Is total condemnation necessarily the only valid assessment of the film?

With respect,

Paddy

Sorry Jon, but you are missing the point. We are not concerned about the possibility of time not being well spent. We are concerned that a proportion of her fans have been shocked or offended by her involvement with LVK. That is a very different and far more serious matter.

Thank you, Paddy. I am sure there is a great deal of truth in that.

Hi All,
I have just seen a 30 minute documentary about the film on the Sky channel, Film 24. No mention of soundtracks of course !
There was a running interview with the two stars, excerpts from the film, shots of the filming and interviews with some of the Vampires and the Slayer. It was interesting they kept referring to it as a low budget movie and the set was nowhere near big enough [image]
That I did not know the stars is an indication they certainly move in different circles to me !
It is a few years since I went to the Cinema ( The Da Vinci Code ) and this is not going to tempt me back !
The sound track is a different matter ;D

Will it be a success ??? Who knows ; I suppose they would not be stars unless they have a following with the mass tv watchers and cinema regulars.

HAYLEY DIDN'T KNOW

Hi everyone,

I have just received information from the most reliable source possible which says that Hayley was unaware of the content of the movie at the time of the recording.

I don't know how this came about but she is completely blameless. Well done to those of you who suggested the possibility.

Hayley, I want to be the first to say I am so sorry that any of us ever doubted your integrity and that we are here to support you as always.

That was neither here or there for me, but I am glad that such news will bring peace to many people that were offended by the soundtrack. :)

Hi all,

I'm going to offer my opinion on this.

I believe that Hayley did not know the film's content or what the songs would be called. Most of the blame must go to Debbie Wiseman and partially to Bedlam.

There are tons of other artist management companies in London.

Joe

Good news indeed...just as I had dreamt it.

Cheers Roger for finding this out for us.

Golly Gosh Folks!!

I guess we've all learnt something from this - even our beloved Hayley.

I don't really know what to say :-/ even being 100% behind Hayley doing this now seems just as wrong as doubting her motives in the first place ::)

Sorry Hayley if we've upset you, but I'm sure you know that however we reacted it is because we love you so much!

Roger, I'm sure you're relieved at the outcome - if I'm honest, so am I.

Night night

I did not post my thoughts on this matter as I felt that I would not have added to the discussion. I was not upset by her involvement, although I am glad that Hayley was unaware of the content as it caused great controversy on HWI.

All's well that ends well! (let's hope this proves true)

Hi Roger,

Thanks for the update and I'm glad the news was the "right news"! :)

As this information is likely to have changed some opinions, I have locked the poll, which is now complete.

Cheers, Dave

!!!PHEW!!!

Boy am I relieved! Okay, well, things seem to make sense now. Wow, that was certainly a moment of serious controversy and we saw some interesting sides to HWI members! People can always surprise you, I guess.

I only wish this was announced a lot sooner. :'( Do you know why it wasn't, Roger?

I'm so happy. :)

I don't know Dori, other than to say that a manager is not obliged to may public the reasons why any decision is made with, for, or on behalf of an artist or to explain the circumstances in which it is made. But there are rare occasions when it might be very helpful. This is one of them because, had they done so, this thread would have taken a vastly different direction, the poll would not have been necessary and I am sure we would all have been far more understanding, far more supportive and sympathetic towards Hayley.
