Hi everyone, We learned during Hayley's interview with Roy Noble on BBC Radio Wales today that she will be on the Welsh Language TV channel S4C this evening at 7:00pm. The programme is called "Wedi 7" (After 7) and I shall endeavour to record it and make it available. Whether or not we will be able to understand any of it is another question altogether!  UK members living near to or in Wales, or those with digital TV, may be able to watch it live. Cheers, Dave |

Why did she sing the Italian verses twice?  If she had time to do that, couldn't she have done the English parts, too? Does she no longer have confidence in her own lyrics?  Hey, in noticing she was wearing the same black pants as she did on the Lorraine show, I realized the top she had on was a blue version of the red one she wore on the Lorraine show, as well! Both very nice. |

It was a shortened version, to fit in the time slot. I also suspect it was mimed - I doubt that Ennio's orchestra was there, and that was the exact same backing as the CD. Although there was a "cut" of the instrumental passage between the two verses.
I actually think she sings the Italian section of this song more beautifully than the English, much as I like her lyric. Somehow, Italian sounds better in this song to my ears.

You don't get it. I heard both Italian verses twice. There are 4 verses in La Califfa, aren't there? Unless Dave messed up the video, making it repeat, but I don't think so. And why would she be miming? She was right there in the studio. Sure, they were playing the track. The music I heard was the music during the beginning verses, yet she was singing the last half of the song. So I think that shows that she was most definitely not miming. If it was the track playing the Italian verses, the music would've matched what was on the album at that part, too, but it didn't. |

Yes she was there, but Ennio's orchestra was not. So where did the backing come from? And the vocals were so accurate, EXACTLY as on the album. If she was singing live there WOULD have been SOME noticable difference.
Hence, she was there for the pictures. The sound was from the album I am sure.

All I heard was Italian. As someone else said, people are going to think the whole album is in Italian if she keeps only singing Italian ones on these shows!

Hi MartinDn and Libby, I saw your discussion. I don't think Hayley is miming. Martin, listen carefully to the words "cagna che", at both 0:34 and 1:45. The second time "cagna" becomes almost tender, or even slightly sad (to my ear), whereas the first time through the tone stays even, as on the record. It's subtle... am I mistaken? I think Hayley sang this song so many times with Ennio that it sounds in her mind, and she therefore sings it always very similarly, almost as if she were miming. I agree that the Italian sounds wonderful, Hayley's voice is perfect for the Italian open vowels, or better the other way round: Italian is perfect for her crystal-pure voice. Greetings up to the North and way over to the West, happy  still sweating, even at night.... |

No they are not, there are the differences happy mentioned but the most obvious one is at 50 seconds and 2m 11s into the video when Hayley sings "propriet**SPAM? PLEASE REPORT" which is completely different from the album track on the NZ edition. Obviously there is a specially prepared/prerecorded instrumental backing track, but that doesn't mean or imply any mimimg. To be doing that. she would first have had to prepare a special version of the song for the TV show and there is no evidence of that. Also, remember how brilliantly Hayley has been on the live radio performances this week? She is really on form at the moment, and I don't know why you are so concerned about it anyway, she would probably have to do whatever the TV producers demanded. Cheers, Dave |

OK, I stand corrected! But that was just so convincing! Utterly brilliant rendition for a live performance.
But then, we should expect that from Hayley. But I'm used to her live performances all being slightly different. And this was more subtle than most.
