I will try to capture the clip [ EDIT - got it! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif ] before it disappears for ever into the ether. However, the accompanying voice-over had me frowning! "Recently the Pie Jesu from Andrew Lloyd-Webber's Requiem topped the pop charts and was a hit for singer Hayley Westenra" I don't think so! Not with Hayley, anyway.  Sarah Brightman had a UK no. 3 with it in 1985, with Paul Miles-Kingston (not long after she married the composer!). But I'd love to know where they got their clip from and where and when it was recorded. Cheers, Dave |

Yes, the same thought hit me. When did Hayley have a hit with Pie Jesu? It does not appear on any of her International albums, only on WITA and Hayley Westenra, local NZ albums. Soif it was a hit it can only have been in NZ.
She did sing it at the BBQ concert when she was 15. But I doubt that was recorded.
How old do you think she was in that video.
I think we need to do a bit of detective work. I'm curious.

Martin D Hi, I'm out of the UK too, so I couldn't see the ITV video, but I do remember seeing a YouTube video of Hayley singing Pie Jesu when she was 15. I just found it again, and it has 1,819,132 views (she's wearing a purple dress if that helps). It's uploaded by lesliecat. Is this the same one as in the ITV video? cheers, Joanne |

Hello Joanne! The video you found was recorded at Russell Watson's outdoor concert in Auckland on 6th February 2002, a few weeks before Hayley turned fifteen. The clip on Meridian News shows her rehearsing with a young boy several years later, but we don't know exactly when or where. Richard |
