Thanks Dave for posting the video so quickly.
I enjoyed both anthems but there is nothing, quite nothing like the Haka to get the hairs on the back of your neck to stand up!
Congratulations All Blacks.

Hi Dave Great result! Is it just me or did Hayley sound more powerful than we've ever heard before? Pity we only got one brief glimpse of our lady but the vocals were fantastic. I have to say also, that I thought Faryl was teriffic. Was this the first time for her? What an experience that must have been. Pity we didn't get the chance to see Hayley and Faryl together Best wishes Grant

I am watching my recording of the game at the moment. We had the same pictures as you in the UK would have had so only saw the two anthems. Unfortunately during the NZ anthem someone in the commentary box forgot to turn off their mike and we could here people laughing and talking in the background which ruined the sound. So I might have to download Dave's video to get a better sound.

I just have one question: why on earth did they not have a camera situated in front of Hayley so we can see her?? I don't get it - we get to see the team throughout the whole game! Shine the spotlight on the performer! Not impressed...
But i agree. The vocals were incredible.

I agree, Dori. How many times did the camera need to go up and down the line of players during the anthems?! Surely once was enough? There was hardly a glimpse of Hayley or Faryl.
Just checked the highlights on the iPlayer, no footage at all of either Hayley or Faryl.

TV rarely shows anything more than a glimpse of the singers at football or rugby matches, coverage is all about the match - although they do have to broadcast the National Anthems. Apart from that, pre-match entertainment is never broadcast although you can sometimes hear it in the background. This time, Hayley and Faryl did indeed sing "Jerusalem" together, while an acrobat did her routine when suspended from a large helium balloon, just above the pitch and you could see a glimpse of that behind the commentators while they talked. Most of 'Jerusalem' happened during a lengthy advert break. There are also a couple of very distant glimpses of Hayley and Faryl walking off the pitch together after they sung, and you could see them at a slightly closer range for a couple of seconds, in the players tunnel entrance while waiting for the mats and stage to be set up for their performance. I'll post a few screen captures later today but don't expect to see much detail! Cheers, Dave

Hi Dori and Irish Hayley fan, While all of us here would have welcomed more of Hayley (and Faryl ) it must be remembered that the broadcast is seen on Sky SPORTS Their brief is the game and the experts earn their money by setting the scene etc It is the same for all Sports, Football, Golf etc As it is a subscription channel those subscribing are paying for the Sport.
Best Wishes,
Graham

Hi Dave Thks for the video, I thought Hayley & Faryl both sound terrific, but sadly we can't see their duet together. Hope they perform again next time.

I guess we've been spoiled in the past

Or did they show it after all, or on a different channel? And if they did show it on TV, then do you have a video of that to post sometime? I'm confused. As usual.

Hi Libby, No I wasn't there but I think it's possible that someone was there, we have at least one member who has attended Rugby matches at Twickenham before but now, I'm speculating so I'll stop. You could see and faintly hear what was happening on the pitch during the commentary for a short while, just before the Anthems. I'll post a few screenshots later but there isn't much detail of Hayley or Faryl I'm afraid. Dave

Hi again, OK this is all I have. It's not in HD because you can only get it out of an encrypted HD recorder in standard definition, otherwise it would have been better, especially the massively zoomed-in photos (they are huge and blurry enlargements of small parts of the screen). Video of just before the Anthems - you can hear the last few bars of Jerusalem starting at 25 seconds in, and see a tiny Hayley Faryl and their minder on the far right, after that. Eng-NZ pre-match commentary during "Jerusalem" (2m 19s xvid 50mb 1mbps for download) If anyone can't view it, get VLC Player www.videolan.org/vlc/ or ask and I might do a wmv version. xvid should be more compatible than DivX. Some huge zoom/enlargements: Hayley & Faryl leaving the pitch after singing Jerusalem & the National Anthems Hayley & Faryl waiting at the players' tunnel before walking out onto the pitch I think they enjoyed it!
