Maybe, but I also know of an artist who died on my 13th birthday. :(

I didn't know about Hayley in 2003, though, but I guess that's because her album hadn't been released in the U.S. yet.

Hello folks! [image]

To get back on topic, there's still no news about the tickets for Hayley's concert in Shanghai, but I'm watching this link twice daily:

Hello Jim! [image]

I saw that video yesterday, but it doesn't really show anything new, unless you can read the sub-titles. ;)

Hi everyone,

A new article (In English) from Taiwan News.

New Zealand soprano Hayley to perform in Kaohsiung, Taipei

New Zealand soprano Hayley Westenra, also popularly known as Hayley, is scheduled to hold two concerts again in Taiwan in October and November after her last performance at the opening ceremony of the 2009 World Games in Kaohsiung.

The local audience was fascinated by her soft, lovely voice as she sang popular songs, including Amazing Grace and Shining Tears in English, plus The Moon Represents My Heart in Mandarin Chinese.

Shih Che, Director-General of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Kaohsiung City, said that Hayley chose the largest city of southern Taiwan as the first stop of her Asian concert tour this year because she was very impressed by enthusiastic fans in Kaohsiung.

Surprise for Fans

"She has practiced several Mandarin Chinese songs and will sing one as a surprise for her fans," Shih said.

Born in 1987, Hayley began performing at the age of 6 and made her first recording in a professional studio after six years. Her first internationally released recording, Pure, rapidly became the fastest-selling debut album from a classical artist, and reached the top 10 of the pop charts in 11 countries. The official U.K. chart compilers also certified her release as the best-selling classical album of the 21st Century.

Hayley has released many albums of both operatic-style and pop songs. Besides appearances as a guest performer with the world's leading orchestras including the Moscow Philharmonic, the Boston Pops Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, she has duetted with Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, Catalan Spanish tenor Jose Carreras, Welsh bass-baritone Bryn Terfel and English tenor Russell Watson.

During this Asian tour, she will perform at the closing ceremony of the 2010 World Expo, Shanghai, on Oct. 31.

Tickets for her concerts at the Kaohsiung Arena on Oct. 27 and at the National Concert Hall in Taipei on Nov. 1 are now available at http://www.ticket.com.tw/

Their ad on the side for Taiwan News is certainly more "cutesy" than you'd expect for news. A girl with a lollipop, and a pink background? ;) News is usually too serious and depressing for an image like that! Oh well.
